It’s to bad they weren’t in the habit of typing “/rimshot” back then. It would have been appropriate. On one hand it is a bit unfortunate that this movie is released right at the outbreak of war, but on the other hand perhaps people are interested in getting away from the news of the day. (I can’t remember, did they do Newsreels at the beginning of movies in late 39 or did that start after the war had started).
