Wow! Don’t mess with Texas! I am thinking the Commies thought it would be a cakewalk to take over...So did Hitler and Yamamoto.

“I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state,” Gov. Perry said. “That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states’ rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.”

Governor "Rick" said that. But did I miss something, I thought the bill passed by a huge margin, only to be defeated by a procedural move at the end of the session of the lesislature.

From a native from 4+ generations >

Texas is not where you were born, but a State of Mind, Heart and Attitude.

It goes something like this:

Leave us alone to live our lives in peace and we will all get along fine, if that is not satisfactory, we will deal with it.

So did Hitler and Yamamoto.

Nope. Yamamoto was against the war. Emperor Hirohito overruled him.

Yamamoto was the original author of the "sleeping giant" quote.

Knock yourself out. According to the US Census Bureau (http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/48000.html), Texas is below the national average in percentages of high school and college graduates, home ownership and home value, and median and per capita income. On the other hand, Texas is above the national average in the number of people per household, percentage of the population below the poverty level, and people under the age of 18. The PM of of New Selinda once said that when New Zealanders move to Australia it raises the IQ of both countries; sounds like the same might be true of people moving to Texas.

So if the guy from say, Alabama moves to Texas, it raises the IQ of Alabama and Texas?

So are you suggesting....Never mind...LOL!

Seems they would like us to leave them alone.

Wish we would oblige ‘em.

Once again, let me call on the Texans to invite other States to join in the party. You all host some fine BBQs, so why not invite the neighbors?

I would truly enjoy hearing a note from the State of Texas being read on the floor of my State’s statehouse.

If Texas ever does secede from the Union, there will millions of white, hard working, conservative, and God-fearing people moving into the state. If that sounds racist, it isn't meant to be. I'm simply stating the truth.

There are folks that don't want everyone to know how close it was back in `96 - `97.
