The environuts are pushing for everyone to get into smart cars and smaller electric cars in general. I give you Jefferson Parrish, LA last week.
After

I live in Upstate NY...Snow Country...Always buy a car over 3000 lbs...with long front and back end...
I have seen this on another site and apparently it’s NOT a Smart Car.
Someone (not me) figured that out by the number of lug nuts visible on the wheel in the photo. The Smart Car has three.
Wow, how did those 2 trucks transform that smart car to a Honda SUV? Must have hit the flux capacator.
If that was a Smart Car there would be even less material between the trucks.
It’s NOT a Smart Car.
Not a Smart Car but doesn’t anyone else feel a bit uncomfortable looking at what was surely someone’s demise? Who are these people taking pictures in front of the picture taker?
Creepy.
Snopes says this is TRUE.

So I know it must be a fake.
That is an old photo ,, someone who put time into it stated that it was probably a Chevy Aveo..
I drive a Crown Vic and it would look the same if it was sandwiched between a pair of 80,000 lb. trucks, this proves nothing.
By George, you’re spot on.

Floyd R Turbo III & smart car salesman
The driver didn’t die.
From the angle of this photo it is hard to see that only the passenger side of the vehicle was crushed.
The driver side of the vehicle exploded outward as it was not in between the trucks. Driver was ok.
If I were the owner of this golf cart, I would be on my way to the nearest SUV dealer as fast as possible.
I checked Snopes , the car was a Ford Escape SUV and the driver lived ,, the car was off to the left of the trucks ,, the right side was crushed but the drivers side was OK.
In the 70’s, an old Japanese gardener once said to me that he would take a big American car to a Japanese coffin any day.
The Smart car is too expensive for what it is, but aside from that I can see a niche for it. For somebody that drives on mostly city streets it makes for a pretty good commuter vehicle, plus you can park the thing literally anywhere.
And all jokes aside they do have a startlingly strong cage. Sure, they lose the mass end of the equation, but they are very strong. I don’t know if I’d take it on the highway very much, but in town it would be nimble and maybe even useful.
... and yeah, I’ve seen that picture before and it’s a Honda in that mess. In fairness pretty much any car would get crushed just like that.
So, the driver escaped?
