I am suspecting he is so far down in purgatory as to be within sight of hell....one can hope for some true justice as we struggle to remain as holy and good as we can.
i didn’t have it on yesterday either. i did see some stuff on Saturday evening though, the actual burial. it took me completely by surprise to see there were people lining the streets of DC for the trek to arlingtion national cemetary. it had just never occurred to me that anyone would do that.
That wouldn’t have been something I would have given a thought about either. I could see it in Mass., I guess, but not so in DC. OH well........guess a bunch of people didn’t have anything important to do on Saturday, like watch paint dry........
Good thing the priest wasn’t sprinkling holy water-(think of the wicked witch in The Wizard of Oz). But he might be allergic to incense-the late Mr.Texan5 was-he would sneeze and choke if I lighted even one stick or bit of resin-which made it bad for me because I love to burn incense, especially at night.
One of our younger priests is incense-obsessed and you can hear people hacking when he gets it going. my brother used to pass out from it, during the 40-hours liturgies of our youth. Do you remember those? I doubt they even have them any longer. as a kid in catholic elementary school i remember them as a huge deal. there would be tons of priests from all over who would come and process and the litany of the saints would be chanted. it went on forever and there was always tons of incense.
My family left early yesterday afternoon, and I took a book out on the deck to read, so I avoided further smarminess with the Ted thing. I really can’t believe some idiots in congress think that making Obamascare a memorial to swimmer will play well anywhere but in the socialist state of Taxachussets and NY city.
With the deaths of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and Michael Jackson, the summer of '09 marked the merciful ends to Camelot and Neverland, iconic American fairy tales whose story lines should have come to merciful ends long ago when their charismatic protagonists took dark and irredeemable turns.
The insipient nature of Barrack Hussein al-Obama frightens me greatly.
We had a quiet Sunday for awhile.....hubby and I covered a few hours Sunday night....took in a woman who’s louse of a husband left her in a state. she had some funky beats on the monitor and we took her to the ER, he didn’t answer his cell phone and she left a friend home with her five children. drama. her heart was beating erratically and she was very weak. she was scared.
i know i meant to tell you guys this. xshub was amused to see when he and xsteen pulled up on Saturday, that the University of Dallas had NOT put the flags to half mast. the TX and US flags were still flying high. Maybe someone has corrected that by now, i don’t know, i will have to ask her, but he got a huge kick out of that fact. he had seen flags grudgingly at halfmast all through texas on the way to UD.
Oh, yes, I remember those-and I haven’t heard of it in at least 35 years-maybe more. The priest at St. Joseph’s, where my parents took us as kids burned incense constantly during the stations of the cross on Good Friday-clouds and clouds of Frankincense till it became a miasma, and your clothes and hair smelled of it.

How funny! Grudgingly at half mast is right-Texas is no fan of his...
I too spent the afternoon with a book, but couldn’t do it on the deck -— far too hot.
nope, she said no and no bruises.....she said he can’t keep his zipper up and they only reconciled in the last couple of weeks....but he sounds self absorbed to me.
I did see one flag at half-staff today, but that was at a local Fire House and I just assumed it was because of the loss of the firefighters in California.
I’ll have to ask coolbreeze if he happened to notice any at half from his travels on Saturday. Other than Church yesterday, until today I hadn’t been anywhere but the little store across the street in a week. Not having a car really puts a cramp on getting around.
Yeah, most of the flags around town have been at half mast. At our football game on Thursday night, I noticed the flags and figured the half-mast thing must be in recognition of Kennedy.
i don’t know for how long, but i am sure that all govt buildings would have them at half staff based on policy.
hubby commented last thursday that flags were NOT at half mast around here.........
