Niceville, FL (AHN) - A woman was arrested Aug. 21 for attacking another woman, a smoker, with a can of air freshener.
Police were called to an apartment complex in Niceville, Fla. where they found a woman spraying a 9 ounce can of "Glade Potpourri Air Freshener" around another woman's head, the Northwest Florida Daily News of Fort Walton Beach reported.
Apparently seeking a fresher environment, the woman allegedly pointed the can at the other woman's head, spraying the contents of the can continuously for nearly a minute.
The police report quoted the sprayer saying she'll continue to spray the air freshener and threatened she'd take the case all the way to the Supreme Court, maintaining her right to breathe fresh air, the Daily News reported.
This was the second time the woman had attacked the other woman with air freshener for smoking in front of her apartment.
The woman was arrested for battery. No word on what scent potpourri she found covered the smoke best.
Yeah most do. But people who want to make a case about smoke in public places might think it’s worthwhile.
Worth a bad outcome???
If you’re willing to make a ‘federal case’ out of something, I’d say you’re willing to risk a lot.
Somoen should spray her in the face with that cr@p and see how she likes it! I bet it never ever occured to her that some people are extermely sensitve to those fragrances and if someone has ashma it can cause an attack? I do not consider the scent of Glad to be what I’d call fresh air!
But you can probably smoke weed with no one lifting an eyebrow—LOL! It’s only the legal stuff that gets people all out of sorts!

SAN BENITO (AP) - A 13-year-old boy may have died from inhaling, or “huffing,” a can of air freshener, police said Thursday.
Family members told police they found the boy’s body next to an empty aerosol can in the bathroom of his grandmother’s house where he was taking a shower Monday.
They picked the lock to the bathroom and found the boy dead.
Police are waiting for toxicology reports to confirm the cause of death.

Nope. They may have an allergic type of reaction but there is no protein in cigarette smoke. Allergies are caused by proteins.
I am a smoker.
Have been for over thirty years.
I have adjusted to the new “no smoking allowed” rules regarding enclosed spaces, and tend to try to be considerate of others when I smoke.
I myself have a violent physical reaction to the scent of burning charcoal.
I make every attempt to avoid the scent, but sometimes,my neighbors grills will permeate my apartment, if my windows are open.
I just close my windows and spray air freshioners, light candles, etc, to mask the scent.
I wouldn't dream of knocking on any of my neighbors door and telling them their family barbecue makes me ill, and asking them to refrain from a perfectly normal, legal activity that just happens to make me physically ill.
But that's just me...trying to be polite and accommodating to my neighbors.
I don't think I need to wonder what you would do, given the same situation.

Gotta find out what bad habit(s) the nutjob woman here has and get in her face continuously about it.
About 1% of the population will go into anaphylactic shock when exposed to heavy doses of methyl butalene - the active ingredient in the spray. The rection can be immediately fatal.
This is not true of cigarette smoke.
So the lady with the air freshener actually commited assault.
I’m sure that smoking is probably allowed at this complex or this insane woman would have called repeatedly and annoyed someone into making sure the woman didn’t smoke in front of the apartment she happens to pay to live in.
Those of you who have joined in the non-smoking snobbery need to consider—perhaps this woman had children in her home or a non-smoking husband or simply didn’t want her apartment to reek and would rather smoke on her porch. If the other lady didn’t like it, she could a)walk around the woman, although I’m sure the 10 seconds of exposure to cigarette smoke outdoors would serious damage her lungs or b) close her windows. The smoke dissipates within a minute or two of smoking if you smoke outdoors. Then you reopen the windows.
I happened to have a neighbor who smoked in our stairwell. I found the stench of her cooking much more offensive, but it’s none of my business, and I’m not a big whiner.
As of yet, it’s still legal to smoke outdoors in most places. If it’s not at this apartment, then the crazy lady has a valid argument, but handled it with no class.
Come on over to my place for some burgers and brats sometime.
I use propane!
You’re right. I’m one who is terribly allergic to fragrances and chemical air fresheners. I wish it wasn’t so because I would love to go into some of the stores in the mall - even normal shopping in some aisles in grocery stores. The only air freshener I use is homemade - I simmer potpourrie of cinammon sticks, cloves, and ginger slices. During the holidays, I splurge and buy mulling spices. But cigarette smoke doesn’t make me sick - just don’t like the smell.
So? Some people will go into anaphylactic shock from a bee sting. We don’t outlaw bees.
The lady only commited assault because she sprayed directly AT the other person. Spraying air freshener around other people is not assualt any more than smoking is an assualt on other people.
I’m allergic to most perfumes. But I still say that if smokers can pollute the air, so can air freshener spayers, perfume wearers, people spraying mosquito spray around others, etc. Same same.
Smokers shouldn’t have special laws just for themselves.
It absolutely affects asthmatics. Most smokers I know, if told, wouldn’t smoke near an asthmatic.
