Naomi Campbell attacks companies for 'dropping' black models in recession
Never afraid of speaking her mind, Naomi Campbell has accused the advertising business of using the recession as an excuse to drop black models.

The 39-year-old supermodel, who is a close friend of Sarah Brown, the Prime Minister's wife, claims that major companies are refusing to use non-white women to promote their products. "This year, we have gone back all the way that we had advanced," she says. "I don't see any black woman, or of any other race, in big advertising campaigns."
Naomi Campbell, Iman and Jourdan Dunn grace Vogue Italia's all black issue. Campbell, who was born in London to a mother of Caribbean descent, refers to the publication last year of a special edition of Italian Vogue dedicated to non-white models.
"That made some noise, but, unfortunately, we are the same as before," she says. "People, in the panic of the recession, don't dare to put a girl of colour in their campaign, full stop. Nor of any other race. It's a shame. It's very sad."
The model, who is a friend of Nelson Mandela, has won support from Bruce Oldfield, the designer of the wedding dress worn by Samantha Cameron, the wife of the Tory leader.
"It's absolutely true that black models will be not as popular for advertising companies and magazine covers as white girls," the designer tells Mandrake. "In a recession, it's probably doubly difficult for black girls to get a booking."

Maybe carry stuff in New Orleans? Looks like that guy to me.
Personally I hope she never finds another job again and no one even thinks about entertaining her especially after this.
It’s just that you usually hold a bottle by the neck or the side, not the bottom, using your fingertips for support, as she’s doing. Doesn’t look natural and besides you risk spilling expensive beer! That’s all I’m sayin’... :-)
White is a color, just as black is a color.
Earth to Naomi: Modeling is not a social program, it is meant to sell stuff. And they will use the models they feel can best sell that stuff. It has nothing to do with race.
Isn’t Naomi the hot-tempered model who’s been in court for beating up on the hired help?
LOL- I know what you mean. You should have seen all the other angles I tried! All of them would have been zotted faster than it takes Lootie to down one Heineken!
So why it that blacks have black colleges, a black TV network, black magazines and yet if whites were to do that, we'd be RACIST. Naomi herself talking in this article about a non-white model "special edition." What are the chances of a publication "special edition" with only white models? I thought we were all equal these days, but some seem to be more equal than others.
Imagine the media reaction if a white model complained about white models being pink slipped due to the recession.
It must be frustrating though to find yourself having to bite your tongue when someone starts to unload on conservatives in general. I would think that you feel you are almost living a double life especially when Hollywood is overwhelmingly liberal. I know there are Conservatives in Hollywood, but only a few, that's if you can figure out who they are.
Why isn’t she branded a social pariah? Could it be because of her race?

Is that the fashion line-up for Mrs. O for the coming winter?
Maybe they can all get jobs modeling for ACORN.
Mistook Naomi Campbell for Tyra Banks re: the big ass photoblog controversy recently......Now if you’d seen the Enquirer photos of her (whether real or not), even you’d said that they weren’t in style....my comment.
Somebody tell me about a double standard here......"brnsuga" can post and not get removed.....yet my comment not worthy of staying.....hmmmm.....
Sorry Gaffer, I guess you’d have to be in possession of your own sweet round derriere in order to get away with commenting on them. ;-)
