It sounds totally beyond belief. But read the tantalising evidence from this boy's family and you may start to wonder...
The agonised screams pierced the air. 'Plane on fire! Airplane crash.' In the dark, a two-year-old boy was just visible, writhing on his bed in the grip of horror. 'He was lying there on his back, kicking and clawing at the covers like he was trying to kick his way out of a coffin,' remembers the boy's father.
'I thought, this looks like The Exorcist. I half expected his head to spin around like that little girl in the movie. But then I heard what James was saying.'
Over and over again, the tiny child screamed: 'Plane on fire! Little man can't get out.'
For his shocked parents, these nightly scenes were traumatic.
For experts, they were baffling.
As the nightmares became more terrifying, the child started screaming the name of the 'little man' who couldn't get out of the plane. It was James - like his own name. He also talked in his dreams of 'Jack Larsen', 'Natoma' and 'Corsair'.
James Leininger's father, Bruce, was flummoxed. In a desperate attempt to find an answer to his son's troubled nights, he embarked on an obsessive three-year research project, armed only with the outbursts and names his son had been shouting in his disturbed sleep.
What he discovered astonished and perplexed him, and drove him to an extraordinary conclusion.
A lifelong Christian, it was not the answer he had sought for his son's behaviour. But he came to believe James was the reincarnation of a World War II fighter pilot; a man who had been shot down in his plane and struggled to escape as it caught fire; a hero.

Name three without searching.
I had a friend whose grandmother had the same thing happen. She was on the machines, but after the family decided to let her die peacefully they disconnected her and she started to breathe on her own. She lived another 4 years, then died in her sleep.
What an absolutely beautiful story. When we were dating my ex and I wrote to each other everyday(I still have all her 40 year old letters). In one of them she wrote that she felt something terrible was going to happen to us and begged me to never leave her no matter what. I didn’t, sadly she didn’t hold up her end of the bargain. In that same letter she questioned whether she wouldn’t love me even more in death than in life if that was possible. I can tell you since her death I have had some amazingly, life-like, vivid dreams, and that is all I will say about them.
I so should not have gotten involved in this thread. And I knew better.
God being forced?
No.
Here, one embryo, that would have grown into one individual, is instead forced to grow as multiple individuals, purely by the actions of Man.
And you know it would not have twinned anyway? Twins, triplets and quads occur all the time.
Do trees have souls?
A theist might argue that natural twinning is done by the Divine, and not by Man.
Not so with what I described.
Algebra was an analogy. Nobody is soul-dead until they’re dead. Nobody living is beyond God’s mercy. Nobody.
The fact that the father lost faith is the fathers’ problem, not God’s.
What does this story say about abortion? He chose his parents - what if his parents didn’t choose him?
That just means abortion is evil - regardless of the parents’ “choice”.
For what it’s worth, my wife, who is a devote Christian, and who has a doctoral degree, thinks this story is b/s. I’m not sure.
You don’t have a soul; you ARE a soul. You have a body, for now...
Shoes do.
LISTER: Just think how Holly feels!?
RIMMER: Feels? He never feels anything, Lister. He’s a computer.
LISTER: He still feels. In fact, sometimes I think it’s cruel giving machines a personality. My mate Petersen once brought a pair of shoes with artificial intelligence. Smart Shoes, they were called. It was a neat idea. No matter how blind drunk you were, they would always get you home. Then he got ratted one night in Oslo, and woke up the next morning in Burma. See, the shoes got bored just going from his local to the flat. They wanted to see the world, man, y’know? He had a helluva job getting rid of them. No matter who he sold them to, they’d show up again the next day! He tried to shut them out, but they just kicked the door down, y’know?
RIMMER: Is this true?
LISTER: Yeah! Last thing he heard, they’d sort of, erm, robbed a car and drove it into a canal. They couldn’t steer, y’see.
RIMMER: Really?!
LISTER: Yeah. Petersen was really, really blown away by it. He went to see a preist. The preist told him, he said, it was alright, and all that, and the shoes were happy, and they’d gone to heaven. Y’see, it turns out shoes have soles.
While RIMMER is thinking about this, LISTER makes his getaway.
RIMMER: Well, what a sad, sad story.
He thinks about it, then a look of puzzlement spreads across his face.
RIMMER: Wait a minute! How did they open the car door?
?
According to Scientology theology, 75 million years ago an evil man gathered up millions and millions of his enemies and applied sufficient force to them to fragment their souls into tens or hundreds of thousand bits.
These fragmentary souls latch on to the nearest body as 'body thetans' and share it's experiences.
When the body dies, (the thetan that regards the body as his 'drops the body') the body thetans scatter and look for new bodies. Mostly body thetans are barely awake, and suffering from the great-great-great grandfather of PSTD. Still, some of them are slightly awake and, well, they like to gossip. Interesting stories like 'I was Cleopatra' get talked about and spread around.
Sometimes the 'real' thetan confuses these stories and experiences as their own.
It's not unlike people thinking they saw something in real life, when it was only on TV.
Like Enoch, Elijah was taken bodily by God. If John and Elijah were the same person, did he/they have one body or two? At the resurrection, will there be one soul with two bodies?
Perhaps John wasn't "the original Elijah," but "another Elijah."
You're not very familiar with the Epistles and Revelation. There are times when individuals reject God and He finally turns them over to their depravities.
I don’t believe in reincarnation.
Demonic forces are sufficient to explain the “evidence.”
I haven’t read every line of this case.
It jangles the sensibilities, certainly.
Scripture says . . . it is appointed unto man, ONCE TO DIE and after that, the Judgment.
There’s another NDE case where the person saw in Heaven, her departed brother, I think it was. Brother or sister. I think it was brother. She had never been told she’d ever had a brother that had died.
The mother had never told ANY one other than her mother and her mother was also already dead. So the daughter with the NDE had never been told because the brother was born out of wedlock, IIRC. He’d died in infancy, IIRC.
Final impenitence can occur at the end of life. Until then, all can call on God's mercy and be sure of being heard. All can trust that God will give them the grace of conversion if they avail themselves of the helps provided by God (prayer, fasting, spiritual direction, avoiding occasions of sin, devout reception of the Sacraments).
Some people foolishly put off their conversion until the end. The problem is, people don't know when they're going to die. Some people die instantly. Some people, when they die, are so preoccupied with the temporal business of dying that they forget the need to be penitent. For some people, the pride dies 25 minutes after the heart stops beating. There are very few deathbed conversions.
Haven’t even heard of it. Thanks for the tip!
