HELP Software QUESTION: Convert download video to text?

KEYWORDS: software; transcripts; worddoc

To the best of my knowledge, no such free software exists. Usually transcription software requires lots of processing power and a very clean input source. I suggest google at this point. You might try some search parameters such as “opensource” “audio transcription” “speech to text” and the like. Good luck.

Try calling the NSA or CIA to see if they have something.

I tried that, but not much luck.
It's aggravating to transcribe video just to have "Word" lock up
and loose about 4 hours of work, due to not occasionally saving what I'm working on.

Thanks. I've give that a try.
I think I was running too many open tabs in Internet Explorer,
overloaded the memory,
and froze up my Word 97 program.
When I went to save the file, Word wouldn't respond.
I tried copying the file through Windows Explorer, and opening the copied file, but I still lost several hours of work.

Autosave won’t take the place of regularly saving the file.
It’s designed to try to recover your document if Word crashes, from the last autosaved point. You can set how many minutes Word will to do an autosave, say every ten minutes.
I think the way to turn it on in Word97 is: Click the Tools Menu, select Options, choose the Save Tab, and click the checkbox for Enable Save Autorecover info every ( ) minutes. If not, the method is in Word help.
Word will slow down while it’s saving, so don’t set it for too short an interval... it gets annoying, but it’s better than losing a day’s work.

Thanks. I’ll check it out, and give it a try.
