An 80 year old Rantoul woman is in the hospital after she says a Pitbull attacked her. It happened last week at her home. Eleanor McDonald broke her hip and her hand. Her son is looking for answers.
McDonald's son Richard says his mother is fighting for her life. He says Eleanor was taking her dog outside. That's when she says a Pitbull came around the corner and knocked her down, driving her across the driveway.
The fall broke her hip and her hand. She's got the bumps and bruises to prove it. Neighbors pulled the dog off. They say the pit bull mix belonged to a person nearby. But no one's owning up to it.
"Her life has been altered from now until the day she dies as a direct result of this incident. Sad part of that is nobody feels responsible for it, no one has come forward and said "I'm sorry this happened," said Richard McDonald.
The dog is with Champaign County animal control tonight. No charges have been filed.
“It is not the breed” apologists in 3...2...1...
Granny sounds like a good candidate for end of life counselling....
Just kidding (sheesh!)
Yet another scumbag pit bull owner.
There are only bad owners... there are only bad owners... say it with me. The breed isn’t the problem, chihuahuas have killed people too. There are only bad owners...
Chihuahuas can’t kill anyone. Why not just compare Dobermans to rabbits while you’re at it?
Jimmy Carter was almost killed by a rabbit.
Incomplete story. “Eleanor was taking her dog outside. That’s when she says a Pitbull came around the corner and knocked her down, driving her across the driveway.”
What about her dog? Usually when an aggressive dog sees another dog and a person, they will charge the dog, not the person.
Thus several things could have happened. If it was a small dog, she could have been carrying it in her arms, and the pit bull leaped up, knocking her down. If it was a larger dog, it might have been trying to run away, and pulled her down, or run towards the pit bull and pulled her down that way.
From the moment she hit the ground and broke her hip, I doubt she was following the action any more.
One final comment, a broken hip at that age is often deadly. If she dies this is possibly a manslaughter charge.

Didn’t quite pick up what kenth was putting down...
The sarcasm wasn’t quite so clear, was it? Ah well.

It seemed clear to me. Maybe I am enough of a cynic to have it resonate...? ;)
Hehe.
Maybe I should have used Shih Tzu.

Is Google biased against PIT BULLS and CONSERVATIVES? lol
Killer tea cup poodle.
Yup, have met plenty of nasty little dogs... fortunately, there is little those angry yappers can do with their rage except annoy you with high pitched barkers.
That wasn’t my argument. I was pointing out that the story was poorly written, omitting critical details. The pit bull could have injured her just as severely en route to attack her dog. And what happened to her dog?
No argument that the pit bull wasn’t savage.
“...And then the pit pull knocked her down, driving her across the driveway...” Huh? I get the knocking down part.
>>Maybe I should have used Shih Tzu.<<
Those towels you see on TV that pick up all that water and stuff...?
Time for a little mercy killing! To bad this dog is at the mercy of people and not his owner. To bad that the owner is a coward. Should be easy to find the owners and take them off to jail.

I conclude, and with the CDC to back me up, that the media over reports on certain breeds that they know will get better ratings. I spent the better part of a day going through all the pit bull stories on there only to find many of them were repeats of the same story on different networks, with the usual changes in details the media is known for. Some of them had pictures of the dog in question, and of those, only about half were dogs that might be considered pit bull-types. The rest ranged anywhere from chows to labs to mastiffs. Witnesses and reporters don’t make the best dog breed experts.
