Thank God for satellite TV and Netflix. I remember when the JFK story was all that could be seen for days and days....
When I bother to watch TV thats not a Sports program anymore i’m usually watching online Hulu and Netflix Through my PS3.
Thank god for it!
I’m thinking of getting rid of cable.
In the mid 1960’s my Dad, who at the time was a conservative Democrat, had a record album that contained JFKs greatest speeches. I wonder what I could get for that on EBAY today?
We set aside Friday night for family movie night, and time our Netflix deliveries just so.
For my son who’s seven we start with a Disney classic, such as Charlie the Lonesome Cougar, The Million Dollar Duck, the Love Bug, The Ugly Dachshund, That Darn Cat, etc
Then we send him off to bed and watch a good action movie.
Thats about all the TV we watch, other than the classics on TCM.
NETFLIX RECOMENDATION (My God this movie is good)

Actually i was babysitting my 4 year old nephew today and introduced him to the old Speed Racer cartoons on Hulu.
I scored almost 3 hours of peace and quiete with that one.
Turns out he really likes it.
NOTHING.
Lets see.....
work on the many projects around the house.
work on the many projects in the shop.
I have two motorcycles to paint.
I have two more that desperatly need riding.
A list as long as my arm of stuff that needs fixin.
Let’s see....
play with the kids
play with the dogs
fire up the grill
read a book (yeah right)
cut the grass
cut my mother’s grass
cut the grass? Oh Lord, I just opened a whole nother can of worms with things that I can do outside the house.
Hmmm.......
go to a ballgame
ride to the local bar for chicken wings and cold beer
go down to the fishing hole
Oh man I could go on and on about things that I need to do and even more of things I want to do, but they surely don’t involve being hypnotized in front of a TV set.
Yes, black and white
Dumped Cable a year ago, and haven’t missed it.
Just got done watching Legend of the Seeker (the whole 1st season)
The Cable Company can pound sand as far as I’m concerned. When they figure out how to do an a la carte service, they can let me know.
I don’t need 20 channels of ESPN.
Give me a package of 10 channels I watch, for an affordable price, and then we’ll talk.
Til then, Netflix Instant View (That Roku box I bought was the best 99 bucks I’ve spent.
Original was excellent, I just never made it thru the book unfortunately.
All of those classic BBCs are great.
My man!
There’s something on TV other than Netflix? oh, right, there’s Red Box too.
The longer I go without broadcast/cable TV (going on 4 years now), the more I can’t conceive of watching such dreck.
I like HGTV, kind of dumb though I guess it is my reality television, you know picking the winner that is which one the buyer will select. i watch it a lot.
The Final Days
"Arrested for participating in the White Rose resistance movement, anti-Nazi activist Sophie Scholl (Julia Jentsch) is subjected to a highly charged interrogation by the Gestapo, testing her loyalty to her cause, her family and her convictions. Based on true events, director Marc Rothemund's absorbing Oscar-nominated drama explores maintaining human resolve in the face of intense pressure from a system determined to silence whistle-blowers."
Hmmm...seems rather timely, doesn't it?
If you want a double feature, pair it with The Lives of Others.
If you know how to search, you can find about any movie over 15 y/o on YouTube in it’s entirety.
I may finish watching Season 3 of “Supernatural.” I love that show. Or I could watch the most recent episode of “Burn Notice” on the On Demand channel. I also have a ton of crime shows, cooking shows, horse racing shows and movies on tape. I’m pretty well covered.
Your to-do list is impressive..however I am an old lady whose constant companion is Arthuritis, and limited to the housekeeping basics and a bit of sewing...BUT, lest I be counted a total plebian, I always have at least five books on hand from the local library. I’m just a fast reader.
I highly recommend a little indy flick “Everything is Illuminated” with Elijah Wood.
It’s one of those rare gems that keeps me watching new movies.
Season 1 of “The IT Crowd” was creative and fresh. Season 2 seemed to go to the dumpster too often for its humor.
We’ve gotten hooked on Doc Martin too.
