LOS ANGELES "Take my mother-in-law please," isn't a joke you're likely to hear often these days from Sunda Croonquist. The veteran comic is being sued by her mother-in-law after making her the punchline of too many jokes.

Didn't see this in search. I've heard of people suing comedians before, but I think this is the first case I've heard of a mother-in-law being the plaintiff!

btw, here's the comedienne and her m-in-law. She looks rather not guilty to me (er, the jokester, that is).

Hmm, MIL doesn’t look particularly amused in the photo. I always wondered how those sorts of jokes went over with the real life counterparts.

"My father is Swedish, my mother is African-American. You know what that made me growing up?" she asks the audience. "A Puerto Rican! That works for me, honey. ... After having two babies in two years, I look like J-Lo." That's pretty funny.

I suspect a publicity stunt.

Doesn't this sort of prove the comedian's point? It's like the politician who held a press conference to announce that he wasn't stupid.
It could be a stunt. After all, we never heard complaints from "Fang" (Phyllis Diller's husband) or "Pickles" (Buddy Sorrell's wife). Mrs. P.G. Wodehouse never seem to complain that every marriageable woman in his stories is an opportunist, arrogant witch or startlingly shallow or dim.
