Missouri lawmakers ban wrong plastic

JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (KWMU) - A law taking effect this week could make criminals out of people who bring Tupperware onto many Missouri rivers.

The law was intended to reduce the floating debris from discarded foam coolers. But lawmakers confused their chemistry and barred the wrong plastic.

The white foam coolers commonly called "Styrofoam" are made from expanded polystyrene. But the law bars polypropylene instead. That's a plastic found dishwasher-safe plastic containers.

The mix up means river floaters can use foam coolers without fear. But someone caught with a plastic container could risk up to a year in jail.

picture a cat responding to a metal tray being dropped nearby....now you can picture me jumping up one night when a bat flew by my face while half awake watching baseball game a few years ago......he landed in the corner of the room and I corralled him with a rolled up t-shirt,picked him up...released him outside Took about 20 minutes to get my heart beat down to norm...*grins*

The only good we get from these recesses of legislatures is that there is a temporary suspension of stupid laws being passed.

"...Styrofoam" ... made from expanded polystyrene. But the law bars polypropylene instead.

Morons.

That's why it's called "styrofoam", not "propofoam".

No man’s life, liberty or property is safe when the Legislature is in session.

"...he landed in the corner of the room and I corralled him with a rolled up t-shirt,picked him up...released him outside..."

From the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

Question: How can I tell if a bat has rabies?

Answer: Rabies can be confirmed only in a laboratory. However, any bat that is active by day, is found in a place where bats are not usually seen (for example, in a room in your home or on the lawn), or is unable to fly, is far more likely than others to be rabid. Such bats are often the most easily approached. Therefore, it is best never to handle any bat.

An elevated heart rate is a fairly appropriate response I'd say, I'm glad you didn't get rabies; I think it takes only the slightest bite from a rabid bat to contract it.

Regarding that picture, “Garbage Cans” prevent such scenes.

So Missouri has an Assembly of ‘floaters’ passing a self protection act. We do have a history of voting for literally ‘dead’ people!!!!! We are a ‘compassionate’ bunch.
