Dakota Fanning may play the lead in a sequel to The Wizard Of Oz, it has emerged.
According to reports, the 15-year-old is being tipped to take the lead in a follow-up to the classic 1939 movie that shot Judy Garland to fame, reports Contactmusic.
The original film was based on L. Frank Baum's 1900 children's book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
The film's producer, Basil Iwanyk, says, "It will be set in the present day and feature Dorothy's granddaughter."

No remake will ever compare to the 1939 version of The Wizard of Oz. That classic is being digitally restored and will be released in BluRay format at the end of October.
But it is an original idea. They will take a classic old movie and remake it infused with their liberal bulls***. That’s never been done befo..no wait.
It does so work. Worked several times in our family.

You’re right, it would work either way; however, it makes the most sense if the girl is the daughter of Dorothy’s son.
