Seems some people are actually outraged, outraged that First Lady Michelle Obama dared to bare so much leg by wearing shorts on a recent trip to the sweltering Grand Canyon.
OMG. First she wears a sleeveless dress, now this?
But think about this for a minute. What should she have worn to the Grand Canyon? A tweed pantsuit? A ballgown? What do you wear on your summer vacation?

There is a reason why “skort” sounds a lot like “dork,” I don’t care for her taste, either, But anyone who would complain about what she is wearing has never had the misfortune to be in Arizona in the summer. And if you’re going to be climbing around anything, in and out of an SUV, for instance, when there are a lot of photographers and video cameras around, you don’t want to be wearing a skirt or a dress. Ahem.
And that’s the photo-shopped version... The actual photo would probably make you puke!
Ah, they’re just “slumming it”.
The kiddies and Michele are being what they are ....
I don’t think the shortness was the problem with them? This is a good photo of them, others show how tight they were.
I am outraged that she gets off AF1 in less than proper attire. She and the kid could have waited until they got to their destination to go casual.
I don’t see a thing wrong w/ her shorts. I think what she is wearing is fine for the occasion. Good gravy, we shouldn’t be as nit picky as the libs.
If she was wearing hot pants or exposing her belly button...then comment...but the above photo shows nothing distasteful about her clothing choice.
That is a sad picture of the 1st lady. With 27 people on staff she could find a better look!
I miss Laura Bush-she was one classy, classy first lady who respected the position of first lady.
What happened to that great new hair do...?
It looked too much like Laura Bush’s.
You can tell who wears the pants in that “family” !
True. BUT. SHE IS THE FIRST LADY. SHE SHOULD DRESS BETTER THAN THIS!!!!! Yeah this is fine for hot Arizona, blah blah blah. But she is the prez wife! Laura Bush would have never shown up in such a getup.
“I wouldnt wear that to mow my lawn.”
Wow, I am glad I don’t live near you. Do you polish your shoes before you jump on your riding mower?
“What should she have worn to the Grand Canyon?”
A burka!!!!
I agree that capris with a stylish top would have been more appropriate. And is she wearing a purple plastic watch? The bigger issue here is she repeatedly has shown she doesn’t much care how she presents herself in public. She knew she’d be photographed but didn’t make the effort to do anything beyond a sloppy ponytail and clothes that I would have tossed in the Goodwill bag long ago. This outfit isn’t even appropriate for the grocery store — maybe it’s a southern thing.
Not only pigeon-toed, but I swear I count 6 toes in the picture in post #44.
And, incidentally, I hope by your nick that you are a female.
Sounds more like the LA Times's lazy, ethically-challenged blogger Elizabeth Snead just had to come up with something quick to write about in order to justify her paycheck, and contriving a contention out of thin air which no one would be able to prove one way or the other seemed like a cheap & easy way for her to score a phony hit on eeeeeevil conservatives.
And the people working at this rag wonder why they're on the ropes financially?
If you'd like to write about 'outrage', Ms. Snead, how about interviewing your fellow employees who are about to lose their livelihoods because of the professional incomptence to which you & your colleagues routinely subject the reading public.
No one is outraged, the LA Times is just floating a trial balloon (i.e., trying to paint the Obamas as victims of hate)...
Wardenclyffe: ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!
But she is not getting ready to jump on a riding lawn mower. She is the wife of the president of the USA. She represents us/ our country. She has a staff, she has money, she has time and resources to take pride in herself and in her position. IMHO this speaks volumes about her attitude towards her position and her country. As my dear departed father used to say, straighten up, fly right, BE A LADY and act like you are someone!
