FR Yahoo NFL Pro Pick'em is back with Fishy Football Reform! ................... ok, it's a vanity

Welcome back to Yahoo! Pro Pick'em! After minutes of thoughtful and deliberate consideration, the name of our league this year is Fishy Football Reform. Our league is here to help anyone who is entirely sick of the health-care debate and wants to hide from it for a few minutes a week. Actually, it tends to become an all-consuming week-after-week ego-deflating compulsion. You'll beat yourselves up for having put 16 points on the Bears to beat the Iggles only to have Jay Cutler go "oopsies!" with the football while only yards away from the game-winning score.

Most everything is the same from last year. There are 17 weeks worth of picks. The numbers of games to pick from can vary from week to week due to "bye-weeks". Some weeks have 16 games, others 15, 14 or 13. We are using Confidence Points. CPs are what you use to determine how many points you win every week. Ex: I pick da'Bears to beat the Lions and am so sure of it I put 16 points on that game. If da'Bears win, I get 16 points for that game. If the da'Bears lose, I get NO points ..... and a heap of scorn from my fellow Fishy Football Reformers. Filling out your weekly picks should be like filling out a form for the government; it's best if you just fill out every possible option, leaving nothing to chance.

We are including scores from every week so sadness might befall you if you get caught up arguing with your dope-soaked lib neighbor over tort reform and you forget to make your picks. I have it set up so you may make picks up to five (5) minutes before gametime of any game

We are NOT using the spread option. That requires too much thinkering.

In the spirit of "reform" I have decided, without consultation from anyone, to add the Yahoo death panel-approved Tiebreak System. I've not read the instructions of how it works or how to use it but I am going to ram it down your throats. So there!

There is a message board on which you can post back and forth to each other about football, tax policy or whatever. Only caveat is to keep it CLEAN. This league is for everyone and their dependents, so young typers might be on board. I will delete all naughty posts and team names.

Time permitting, I will write a weekly fishwrap wrap-up, noting the week's winners, league leaders, and anything that seems topical.

Joining instructions are below. Post any questions or problems. Thanks and have fun!

...... and yes, I get paid for using the " - " key.

Thanks for your efforts...I look forward to this season, although I’m still down on my beloved panthers for stinking up the field in the post-season, football in general is always something I look forward to...

honestly, I think Vince wold look favorably on Favre...a man that loves the game, still plays it with heart, like a child...and just can’t let it go.

Me on the other hand...I would have preferred to remember him as a packer, moving on to life after football 3 years ago. I thought Elway nailed it.

On the other hand, Dan Marino went 2-3 years too long, & now Brett is too IMO.

Thanks, but don't thank me yet. I've an entire season of poor predictions and sloppy summaries of games I probably won't watch.

You're right about Vince re: Brett. After all, Vince left The Pack to go to Washington.

Always felt bad for Dan, having reached the SB his first year but never after that.

I agree...Elway and Marino are about my age and I always followed their careers, it was so cool to see Elway finally succeed after, let’s face it, getting punked in so many super bowls.

Marino’s case just illustrates it takes more than the qb, you have to have everything work just right to even get into the playoffs, let alone the SB!
