Owning a gun means they can’t drag you away silently in the middle of the night. There will be a fight, and even if you lose it, it will be noisy and messy and will disturb the neighbors and might even make the local news. In other words, it ensures that hauling off a citizen isn’t just some trivial thing that can be done on a whim.

how this modern military deals with insurgents.

Suggest you do a little research and see where most of those who serve in the combat arms of that modern military grew up.

Hint for you, It ain't the blue states. American Progressives are making the same mistake the French Aristocracy did. They are thinking the soldiers will blindly follow the Progressives orders

Funny I just found this thread again. Last time I posted to this thread it was two weeks till the START of school. Now it's two weeks till the END of school and yes I had the same conversation .... AGAIN.

What do I teach? For the last several years (of my 20+ in the field) I've been teaching AP American Government, Economics, (those two are parts 1 & 2 of the same course. Each is a semester. Then I also teach Psychology and Sociology. Same deal. Each is a semester. I always use my experiences in the army to make a connection with my students. I find it serves me very well in several areas. First they pay much better attention and second it keeps discipline extremely well.

Last year a teacher got jumped outside his classroom in school, for the offense of confiscating an iPod from a kid, he had his jaw broken in three places. After it happened ALL my kids wanted to ask the same question:

"Mr. _________ are you now 'scared' to come to work?" To which I reply thusly:

~small sigh~ "Look, folks: I'm too young to die and too old to take an A$$ whuppin' so.... I'm just gonna KILL YA." (Shocked looks doesn't quite fill the bill, but close). The comments in return are always couched in a low whisper and they go: "Yeah, we all sorta figured you'd say that."

I have been "tried" too. Not so much in my current inner city high school, but in my former inner city high school a kid took a swing and I put him on his back very hard. I study Aikido and it has helped me numerous times over the years. Love it because it requires zero physical strength to be deadly effective if your technique is correct. But when I was recruited for my current post to start teaching Psychology, I left mid year much to the wails of discontent from the kids. I went over to the new school to do a short recon one day just before the end of Christmas break. I got stopped by security on the grounds. Told them my name and they whooped. They all said I'd fit right into the new combat zone and I'd have no problems, either. Said all my current kids had called their buddies at the new school. Told the new guys this: "Ya got an awesome teacher coming in. Treat him GOOD. If you give him any crap, he'll kill you D-E-A-D." Okay, I thought it was a little bit overly dramatic, but it's been effective. The story always seems to find it's way to the next class coming in, lol.

Then there’s my 3 long guns that I threw into the Cal-Sag when I moved to Chicago. (Just in case Obamugabe is listening..)

I was on the phone last week with my son and we discussed this very topic. He is active Army, Infantry. 11 Bravo. He said they talked among themselves about this while in Iraq once in awhile. His said NO ONE he talked with, some Officers included, would obey any command to attack or harm U.S. citizens.

I was an Army Sgt, in (West) Germany during Vietnam. My platoon leader, a LT about my age asked me what I would do if he ordered me and my squad to take over an American radio station.

I said "sadly Sir, I would have to shoot you."

He said "I would expect that of you."

Beautiful Read.

I missed it before, and you are right: it needs to be re-read from time to time. Tears in my eyes in places since I know that I, too, will NOT be a slave, even if some of my family and friends will consign themselves to that fate. I will do what I can to protect them - even if I am 98 years old.

Very interesting. Thanks for giving me the link, Vet.

I hope I would be brave. I have a question. How would a resistence group communicate, form and organize in light of today’s police state spies? Do you know how it worked in France back then?

CB and Ham radios? We must assume that the Internet and cell phones will be compromised. The French used messengers and some radios as I recall. Maybe encryption within the net.

How many really think that our military will obey any order to start pouuncing on citizens for owning weapons?

I'm pursuaded that very few of our family members who serve our country in uniform will betray their oaths and will choose to join us or at least stand down and let us go about the business of restoring our usurped government.

I would hope that L.E.O.'s and other government alphabet agencies who are armed will follow suit and stand down as well if the buzzard at the head of our gummint gives the order to collect the guns.

Remember: You’re betting your life (and that of your family) on that premise. Can you afford to do that? I agree that many Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines will not fire on their countrymen, but what percentage?
