I just watched Anthony Bourdain (on a travel/food show we checked out on DVD) eat deep-fried haggis. It actually looked delicious, compared to the bone-marrow on toast he ate in the previous segment.

Just back from the day. Had to undergo a stress cardiogram as part of the hypertension workup. Odd: the high blood pressure readings just... disappeared. Numbers were the normal I was told I should be striving towards. And the echocardiogram showed everything to be perfectly normal and in exceptionally good order. *\:^)

It wasn’t done in the stomach (?) casing, but held together with something less chewy until it was breaded and fried. Apparently deep-frying is a major thing in Edinburgh - the food shop had a loooong menu of deep-fried this-n-that, which you wouldn’t want to touch if you’re concerned about your blood pressure at all.

And deep-frying has become a BIG thing across Scotland in the past decade or twa. The first I heard of it was "deep-fried Mars bars," though I don't remember when. Possibly as early as 1988.
