Danzig slogan: “Give me margarine or give me death!”

According to word circulating here, Herr Hitler is still determined to bring Danzig “home” to the Reich by the end of this year and to do so by peaceful means.

I’m a bit behind in my reading, but something here really caught my eye. I notice the French military experts make reference to “Blitzkrieg” and specifically the failure of Italy to implement it. Blitzkrieg was actually a very rarely used term by the German military (first mentioned in a field manual in 1935 I believe) and was more of a propaganda tool by the German government.

I’d be interested to know how they had designed their maneuvers to see it if really was a blitz style operation. Even the attack on Poland was not a true “Blitzkrieg” and was more of a first major use of combined arms (air and armor). In 1941 Hitler even said that he never uses the word “Blitzkrieg” because it is a “stupid word”.
