A 25-year-old Dubuque woman suffered serious injuries Wednesday afternoon after she slipped beneath a backward-rolling vehicle at Kirkwood and West Locust streets.
Police say the woman, whose name was not being released as of presstime, was transported to Mercy Medical Center-Dubuque. Capt. Scott Engleman said the last update he received was that health care providers were preparing to send the woman to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
The woman's vehicle, police say, was unable to operate in reverse. It was parked in a driveway on Kirkwood at about 2:20 p.m., when the woman tried to push it out. That's when the vehicle started rolling backwards. She tried to jump in and pull the parking break, but she fell beneath the car. The vehicle then proceeded down the street until it struck a house at 679 W. Locust St.
The woman suffered injuries to her upper torso and head, according to police.
The home sustained minor damage.
Yeah, that'll do it.
WTF??? Sounds like she already had some brain damage before she ran herself over with her car.
How do you get a newspaper job without basic understanding of the English language?
My God... are there no standards for journalism anymore? This is one of the poorest written pieces of trash I’ve read in a long time, and I’m a graduate student in English!
“ow do you get a newspaper job without basic understanding of the English language?”
Simple. Go to J-school.
