Last nights Red Eye show discussed the upcoming film, GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra. Its no secret that the film is drastically different from the shows patriotic history. Host Greg Gutfeld said of the film:
The characters are no longer a typical American soldier. Instead hes part of an elite international force. MSNBCs Donny Deutsch calls this a business decision; I call this a wussy decision.
Of course, Hollywood does not want American heroes. They would give everyone else credit for doing good in the world before allowing our heroic soldiers a title outside the realm of murderer.

I heard they didnt release the film to critics prior to release. Now we know why. It is an Obama inspired film....It will tank.
Yeah, it looks like garbage. Nothing beats the animated movie with Don Johnson as the voice of Lt. Falcon and co-starring Sgt. Slaughter as Sgt. Slaughter.
That’s so sad.
I was watching scenes of this last night during the finally of “I Survived a Japanese Game Show”. We also saw the trailer before Harry Potter.
I’m so sorry they made this suck.
Funny that Transformers (that other Hasbro franchise) got the American heroes.
It is sad. I'm so sick of leftists in Hollywood crapping on our nation. I wish they'd pack up and GTF out. Cuba would be a good place for them
The movie was OK but the plot was just too absurd for me but that was a Hasbro thing as I understand. There was another plot mentioned out there I would have probably liked better. The opening was really good though.
I am a huge, huge child-of-the-80s nerd and I can assure you that this worthless movie isn’t GI Joe. I’ve been following this since the movie was announced and the end result is a thumb in the eye to the original storyline and characters.
Cobra!
“...an elite international force.”
.
Under the command of the UN where Americans will make the payments and will do the fighting and dieing. The first step of this take-over was to put a foreigner in the WH.
We made a terrible mistake by joining this organization in 1945 — it has been a black hole for America to put its money in.
Of the reviews that have come in on Rotten Tomatoes, it appears that the problem most have is that it is based on a toyline that involves armed soldiers. Lots of explosions and not much story. Since sometimes I just like to see stuff blow up, it sounds worth my $4 at the matinee tomorrow.
There is always UNIT for an international force. I doubt types like Lethbridge Stewart and Benton would be allowed on screen.
Exactly, they have destroyed it. Just like they’d do with ATLAS SHRUGGED.
I think it is a sad state of affairs when Americans even look to a doll as some sort of role model or hero.
I’m pretty sure I died at least 20 years ago and this is limbo or hell or some other dimension where nothing makes sense.
>Yeah, it looks like garbage. Nothing beats the animated movie with Don Johnson as the voice of Lt. Falcon and co-starring Sgt. Slaughter as Sgt. Slaughter.
That’s the only GIJoe that I know of, and will ONLY watch. Cobra Commander was also voiced by the same dude who did Starscream.
This was directed by Stephen Sommers..you know, that limey who directed “The Mummy” with that idiotic scene where one of them said “those Americans..” while on the boat. He’s got no talent and is freakin overrated.
If you think that “nuking the fridge” is the new “jump the shark”, he directed Mummy 4 and the most idiotic scene was when the Chinese girl called Yetis/Sasquatch(s) to save the hero’s family. “Calling the Yetis” should be the new norm...
Simple. Put hollywood liberals, who believe Castro and Che are bigger heroes than american soliders, in charge of the script and casting.
The main reason soo many major movies that come out of hollywood bash and scapegoat america is because the moneymakers behind the projects believe it will make it more profitable overseas.
I believe that they made G.I. Joe International so when they play the movie overseas, people will attend everywhere instead of just America. It is a marketing tool not a PC tool.
"We have a really interesting international cast and I personally view the world in a very polyglot sort of way, GO BARACK OBAMA, and so we wanted the movie to really reflect a modern worldview." - Lorenzo Di Bonaventura
