Dr. Waxman's Miracle Cure-All & Tonic

So Democrats don’t like all those ads for prescription drugs on T.V. – the ones for high cholesterol, enlarged prostates, dry eyes and, yes, ED. On C-Span recently, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman, D., Calif., said “a lot of people start thinking they have medical problems because they’ve seen too many of these commercials. I don’t think that’s doing the public a lot of good. It’s certainly making the drug companies richer, but it’s not doing a lot of good for the public.”

That statement tells us an awful lot about Waxman, President Obama and the other liberals currently trying to cram socialized health care down the throats of a reluctant citizenry.

Waxman assumes that there is something inherently wrong with citizens knowing that these drugs exist. Waxman is a statist ideologue, so perhaps he really believes information should be rationed (he certainly believes health care should be rationed). Maybe what bothers him in this case is that the state has not yet managed to insert itself into this transaction. A drug company speaking directly to a consumer smacks too much of liberty.

The congressman must have a low opinion of the medical profession, to imply that consumers need only ask their doctors for prescriptions and they’ll get them. Physicians pay massive malpractice insurance premiums. The Democrats refuse to cap malpractice tort awards. So in violation of the universal law of CYA, doctors can’t be trusted to give cursory exams to verify the presence of the maladies in question.

We do not need compromise, cooperation or consensus. We need a rational process based on facts before any “Reform”:

“We go from great idea to mass production to failure. You can’t build a project that way. You can’t run a business that way.

“You have a noble concept. You want to build the biggest skyscraper. You want to build the fastest airplane. You want to build the first satellite going into space. That’s the noble concept.

Eventually, after a lot of analysis, you come up with what you think really will work and you build a pilot model. You test it. You get all the problems out of it. Then you mass-produce it on the assembly line.
“And any concept or idea needs to be built so it can be changed as the conditions change. We come up with Medicare, put it into law and then freeze it and then wonder why it doesn’t work. That’s like making the Model T Ford and then saying, ‘Freeze it! That’s a car that works.’ That wouldn’t be a very good idea, would it?”

IN OTHER WORDS, WHEN MASSACHUSETTS, OR ANY OTHER STATE, COUNTY OR VILLAGE, IS ABLE TO MAKE “UNIVERSAL CARE” MEET PROGRAM GOALS FOR ACCESS, QUALITY, AND COST, THEN AND ONLY THEN SHOULD THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CONSIDER “MASS PRODUCTION” THROUGH NATIONAL REFORM, AND EVEN THEN ONLY IF EFFECTIVE COMPONENTS REQUIRING “CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT” ARE INCORPORATED. ANY EARLIER ACTION TO “REFORM” MEDICAL PRACTICE OR INSURANCE COVERAGE NATIONALLY THROUGH MANDATES, WILL PREDICTABLY INVITE AND YIELD NATIONAL DISASTER.

The healthcare bill is reparations in disguise.

Take benefits from elderly population and distribute to youth. And since the majority of elderly are Anglo and the joint population of youth is Latino, African-American is much larger, this a a de-factor reparations bill.

Too bad Obama is so obsessed with race hatred. It is bad for the country.
