you're missing my point...since only 5% of couples are interracial and that includes asian-white and likely latino-white since the Dems like to peel off latinos as non white which is only partially true then why do we nearly always have the black guy with the blonde girl?

is this reflective of how they wish our culture was rather than how it is?

i think most folks think people can couple with whom they like, that is a personal choice but given how statistics show how most folks behave it seems that around 95% choose to couple with their own kind...race, often religion and culture

so again why do they push something so few folks do?

i am old enough to have lived thru the real racism (52) and remember when choosing to marry another white person rather than a black woman was not considered racism....to me racism is about supremacy, suppression and violence...none of which have to do with why I am now married to a white woman by choice

but now apparently to you youngsters 95% of America is now racist about coupling choice....I'm not sure I'd call that progress

this is how the left attacks and divides us and creates their victimhood blocs

let's look at this situation differently...I admit I know that I'm not attracted to most black women(i doubt they'd want me either)...it's just how it is...with some notable exceptions(Thandie Newton, Selita Banks) who would have nothing to do with me anyhow I'm simply not attracted to them and those I do cotton to are mixed usually...it's just my preference...in a perfect world I prefer Castillian women and Southern peachy blondes or Sarah Palin (and my wife.

But I don't live in a kumbaya world of how I wish things were....take black men and white gals...I have lived almost all my life in majority or near majority black environs worldwide, it is true that blacks men often desire pale white women for many reasons..fine....they can go in almost any white bar outside Vidor Texas and hit on white chicks and nobody says anything even though most white males may not like it too much they will be polite about it.

now, let me go into a black bar in the hood and start getting all frisky with the sistas and see how long I last.

when do you think Madison avenue will show that reality to sell something?

say body bags for example

btw...my ex was latino from Brasil so I'm not ‘xactly a stranger to this sorta thing you know

Again, because it's eye-catching. Like so many other things in advertising. I'd say about 95% of people in commercials are very physically attractive, whereas in real life maybe 10-15% of people are that attractive. I've probably seen ten thousand commercials with pure-bred puppies frolicking in a basket of laundry, but I've never seen that in real life. For a while it seemed like every commercial showed an older woman doing tai chi in the park at sunrise, and I've never actually seen that in any park I've visited.

None of those things bother me because none of them are bad. Unrealistic, sure, but not bad things to depict. I don't get offended that Madison Avenue is trying to "push" cute puppies, attractive people, or tai chi grannies on me.

It seems to bother you quite a bit that the interracial couple commercials do not accurately reflect real life. Do you expect all commercials to depict life as it actually is?

...but now apparently to you youngsters 95% of America is now racist about coupling choice....I'm not sure I'd call that progress...

Just to clarify, I don't think there's anything wrong with preferring to date and marry within your own race. You can't help what kind of features you find attractive and, as you pointed out, people from different cultures often have different values and different outlooks on the world. No one should have to date a completely incompatible person just to prove to the world that they aren't a racist.

But I also don't think there is anything wrong with someone who doesn't care about race when dating, or if someone is more attracted to men/women of another race. To each their own. Since none of these outlooks on dating is any better than the other, I don't really care which one is featured most prominently in ads.

Of course, I don't expect a high degree of realism in commercials but you might. If that's the case then I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I'm convinced Mad avenue is overpopulated with minorities and homosexuals like most media oriented properties and the interracial thing like so many others is pushed by them not to be eye catching as you say but because they want it to appear the norm more than the true reality that it is because it suits them

or they think it will appeal to more racial gorups which is stupid because most Southern whiteswith disposable income and few black women are peachy keen on black men with blonde women all the time regardless of hos they might feel philosophically about it.

I have been quite frank about myself and how I feel about all this. Folks usually refelct what they are and their life's experiences on these issues

Are you young? a minority yourself?

as you get older you will realize that what you are not just as idealistic as you once were...maybe not

i confess i too was more open about this personal choice back then but experience ruined that...and continues to but when I meet an exception it does warm me So what is it about you that makes you more amenable to this sort of angle?

I used to have a copy of the Chase and Sanborn "Store Test" ad hanging on my bulletin board at work, but the HR weenies made me take it down. They just don't understand irony...

I posted here long ago, and mods always deleted it.

Feminism is very evil and destructive and many women (and women) do not realize how their world view is influenced by its lies.

I should write a vanity about feminism.
