I think one of the bigger reasons is that the cartoons don't draw ratings anymore. The Three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, Gilligan's Island, My Three Sons, Ozzie and Harriet, My Little Margie, the Honeymooners, the Munsters and many other shows that we thought would play forever in reruns are getting played less and less.
There's some cartoon network, Boom, or something, that has the rights to a lot of the old Hanna-Barbera cartoons. They play them at like three in the morning, so if you want to see Top Cat, there's your chance. There's no censorship, kids just don't watch them.
I don't follow it too closely, but IIRC, Toon Disney has gone to mostly Anime type cartoons. They draw better ratings than the Disney produced stuff that's only a few years old.

The Three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy, Gilligan's Island, My Three Sons, Ozzie and Harriet, My Little Margie, the Honeymooners, the Munsters and many other shows that we thought would play forever in reruns are getting played less and less.I think there's a cable channel called Good Life that plays such shows as those now and then.
My own take on them:
The Three Stooges---Stick to the Curly years.
Laurel and Hardy---Stay with their short films.
Gilligan's Island---No great loss. It was funny once around. Twice around it was ridiculous. Thrice and after, don't ask.
My Three Sons---Until they 'fess up and dig up the killers of Mike and Sally, I have no interest. (Of course, we could say likewise for the killers of Gildersleeve's wife, Chuck Cunningham, et. al.)
The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet---Hunt down the original radio series, especially from about the time their real-life sons joined the cast. And discover how lame they were on television by comparison. (Harriet Hilliard, on the ascendancy of the real Ricky on radio, proving to be quite the quipster even at age eight: "It'll be a wonder if David doesn't murder Ricky in his bed one of these nights.")
My Little Margie---Passable, no great shakes. If you want to resurrect classic 1950s television, demand the resurrection of Our Miss Brooks, the radio original of which is available in abundance and still funnier than ninety percent of what hit the tube in that decade.
The Honeymooners---Should never be off the air. Ever.
The Munsters---I'd rather have The Addams Family. Though it might be interesting to think of Herman and Lurch going at a battle of wits, come to think of it . . .
I agree with you assessment except for the one on the Stooges. Shemp was very funny.
Toon Disney is now Disney XD.....so they can show more reruns of the Disney Channel shows like Suite Life, Hannah Montana, etc.

Shemp had his moment or three (whenever they set him up as the romantic entrapper he was magnificent), but I still prefer the Curly years.
