Bumper-sticker rage (Local lib gets mad at GOP bumper sticker)
Ventura Co. Star ^ | 7/29/2009 | Bob Jackson

Posted on 07/29/2009 8:30:31 AM PDT by Signalman

Knowing the hazards of “road rage,” I recently experienced “parking-lot rage” when confronted by a bumper sticker that read: “I’m a Republican. Not everybody can be on welfare!”

For the person on whose vehicle that appeared: I’m a socially liberal Democrat who’s not spent a single second on welfare.

For those of you on the right whose arch-conservative stance has been allowed to dictate county and city government, nestled as they are in the bosom of the Ronald Reagan Library, who think that bumper stickers are cute and funny and want to know where you can get yours, I proudly pay my taxes, something your respected tea-party people pout about and demonstrate against. How dare you portray me a deadbeat!

I proudly served in the U.S. military, something your recent president and vice president disdained. How dare you question my commitment to this country with your absolutely ignorant bumper stickers! How dare you!

Excuse me, that was your president, Bill Clinton.

And your Present Present Obama who never served as both Presidents Bush did.

Get your spin straight Bobby boy.

Hey Bob, My bumper sticker did NOT say YOU were or had been or welfare. However you are just as bad, why, you ask. Because you are in favor of giving my tax money away to those that are too lazy=liberal to do something for themselves. You are in favor of the nanny state and want to use my tax dollars to pay for programs that make you feel good and noble.

By the way, how is that HOPE & CHANGE working for ya?

I have a relative who made her own custom bumper sticker -

“Phish sucks, Jerry's dead, get a job”

Some Boulder, CO lib scratched her bumper when they scraped it off. Libs aren't really into free speech. Just go to any college campus.

It was a pretty lame bumper sticker.

A better one would have read:

I'm a Republican.
Don't blame me for 0!

That is one reason I don't put stickers on my car. I don't want it scratched up, but someone who doesn't like my free speech.

“He volunteered for Vietnam, but wasn’t activated since the F-102 was an air defense interceptor and had no role in the conflict.”

An old argument, but I guess worth straightening out, one more time:

“George W. Bush’s military service began in 1968 when he enlisted in the Texas Air National Guard after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in history from Yale University. The aircraft he was ultimately trained to fly was the F-102 Delta Dagger, popularly known as “the Deuce.” The F-102 may have been old but was far from useless, and it continued to serve in large numbers with both Air Force and Air National Guard units well into the 1970s. Furthermore, the F-102 was deployed to Vietnam throughout most of the conflict, and the aircraft proved its value early by deterring North Vietnamese pilots from crossing the border to attack the South. Perhaps more importantly, the F-102 and its Air National Guard pilots performed a vital role in defending the continental United States from nuclear attack.” —Aerospaceweb.org

"How did our oil get under their sand?"

Greatest line of the day!

I printed up some bumper stickers on sticky-back labels that say, "I AM AN ASSHOLE!" that I put on people's cars who drive like idiots into parking lots...

Yeah sure, show me evidence. Also, if you disdain being accused of being on welfare, why do you support politicians that want more people on the dole?

yep.

Ask yourself how many actual veteran posters (and there are plenty!) on FR give credibility to their thoughts by starting off with "I'm a Vet, and I think..."
