Barak Obama’s stupid healthcare policy
Vanity

Posted on 07/20/2009 9:22:30 PM PDT by Thunder90

Imagine that your young child comes to you and has an earache and a fever. You would set up an appointment to see your doctor the next day, right, or if it is really bad, you would take your child to the ER , then follow up the next day (or a few days later) with your primary physician. In both situations, your child would be prescribed the best drugs on the market, both to fight the infection and to reduce the pain. In both cases, you would be able to see your general practitioner rapidly. This promotes healthy healing, and your child gets better within a week because he/she got the best medicine available and follow-up care.

Now, imagine what it would be like under a universal healthcare system. You would have to wait weeks to get your child in to see a doctor (not including your family physician-this would take months). So the only option is to go the government ran ER, possibly wait hours for the illegal immigrants and gang bangers before they can see your child. When your child does get in, he/she is prescribed drugs from a government list to save money-old ineffective antibiotics. And as for a follow-up appointment- You will be waiting weeks or months for this, thus this process would have to be repeated if the symptoms worsen or the infection doesn’t get better. In this case, your child has a drug resistant infection (Due to the use of old antibiotics), and you have to repeat the ER process again, even though you don’t want to.

The top situation describes the current health care system here in the United States, where market forces (for the most part) dictate the type of care. It is because of these market forces that most of the world’s medical breakthroughs are made here, saving countless lives, making other countless lives better, driving a major sector of our economy, and creating high paying high tech medical jobs.

The second scenario describes the nationalized healthcare systems that exist in Canada and the United Kingdom. According to many news sources, people wait months to see their general physician, and even have to wait YEARS for lifesaving surgeries and procedures. They also don’t have access to the best medicines. This is due to cost cutting by the governments. People die at higher rates from cancer, heart disease, and other very treatable conditions in those countries than here in the US . Thus it is obvious that people with money would come to the United States from these other countries to get their medical care.

America needs to wake up.

HIs health care policy is stupid and tragic if you look at it from a traditional American perspective. But when you look at it fomr his command economy, marxist ideologue perspective, you realize that that is exactly what he has in mind.

Here is an example (my statements are in bold - his aren't)

1. It will cost too much, a lot more than the projected costs offered by government bureaucratic flunkies.
Over 60% of bankruptcies are due to medical bills.

2. Health care will be rationed.
Rationed > none, which many people can't afford....

3. No incentives for doctors of all kinds to become doctors or to stay in the medical profession because salaries will be capped.
Doctors actually care about helping people, not everyone is money hungry.

4. Enormous taxes for everybody in order to pay for universal health care.
Refer to point 1.

5. Patients will wait months and years for care. This will especially hurt the elderly the most. The elderly will die waiting for care.
This already happens, plus people will be welcome at all hospitals instead of those just approved by their health insurance.

6. No guarantee illegal aliens will not be recipients of health care that American taxpayers (you and me) will pay through the nose for.
For the better of mankind. Funny how you preach peace and humanity yet you feel it is alright to deny someone good health. I think you need to re-think your morals.

7. Government bureaucrats will determine who will receive care and who won't.
Won't everyone receive care, how is it that your worried that illegal aliens will get it but you won't?...

8. Health care will no longer be determined by doctors and their patients but be run by a nameless faceless government bureaucracy.
You act like medicare or medicaid doesn't have horrible issues as is.

If your so worried about the costs of such things, why don't we start taxing churches, that should bring in some $100 billion+

Wow - I'd hate to think that I was this stupid at one time. Nah - that's just not possible!

You’re right on the issue, but please: if you’re going to misspell the president’s name, do it for some comedic purpose, not because you can’t spell.

Smart health care plans don't have to be rushed through Congress with minimal debate. Only socialist and anti-constitutional plans have to be rushed. Of course, they'll exempt themselves. Alternative text
