Anyone but me into "Prog Rock"..........you know, the awesome 15 min long songs from the 60's and 70's?
Some of my faves..........early Genesis, Yes, Camel, Caravan, ELP, Harmonium, Gentle Giant, Van Der Graaf Generator.............anyone ?
You like things Topographic.
We have a clear winner, folks!
Well, you know, Love Ain’t For Keeping, but Long Live Rock!
1969 or 1970? Personally, I prefer early-mid 70s, when they were doing stuff from “Who’s Next.”
It’s Hard (probaby the suckiest album they made) to imagine The Who without “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” “Behind Blue Eyes” and “Baba O’Riley.”
I have Uriah Heep in the truck cd player for the week.
Traffic and Argent
I took my cousin to see The Dead near the end. He had it right. “The dancers (girls in granny dresses) were more entertaining than the band!”
What do Deadheads say when you take away their drugs? This band sucks!!
Keith Emerson playing “Fanfare for the Common Man” - very cool.
I recently discovered a band from the 70s called Family. I like them. I guess they are considered prog rock.
Dream Theater: The Prog Rock Gods of the 21st Century :-)
Built to Spill/ Perfect From Now On
I have over 500 cassettes sitting at the back of my closet...of just one band! :) They don’t get used much anymore. Heck, with archive.org you hardly need ‘em
Waggle- knew you were a fan, we discussed before. That Hampton show is absolutely legendary!
At one point I was about to start a deadhead ping here. Still might. Let me know if ya’ll interested.
Going out to see Ratdog tonight as a matter of fact!
I saw Rod Argent/Colin Blunstone 5 or 6 years ago. “Hold Your Head Up” just about tore the roof off! Nice guys. They hung around and talked to everyone in the bar for about 90 minutes after the show.
I thought you’d want to pop in here.
I wasn’t old enough to appreciate it at the time. ;)
Did you meet the freeper at the MFJ that was a founding member of a prog band?
If you ever start a list put me on it. I’ve got hundreds of tapes somewhere (I think in the attic at my parents house), but I was lucky enough to download everything I wanted from archive.org before they stopped the downloading of soundboards.
Have fun at Ratdog. I’m a little upset with them since they endorsed Obama. It was no secret that they were liberal, but other than the Rainforest shows and a couple others they left politics out of it.
Court of the Crimson King. Great stuff.
Rush before they became popular - 2112; Hemispheres.
You didn’t mention the band that did the greatest prog rock album ever.

I’m talking their LIVE peak. Glyn Johns was an idiot. Who’s Next would have been a GREAT double album. He cut Pure and Easy, Relay, and several other strong cuts.
I’m still trying to figure out what the hell “Prog” Rock is. Is it supposed to be “progressive”? Or is it something else entirely?
Oh yeah, Tony Kaye was there with CaL. My husband is a huge Yes fan, he thought it was just the best that Tony was there.
