US News reports that Senator John McCain (R-AZ), unsuccessful GOP presidential nominee in 2008, is considering another bid for the presidency in 2012. If elected, McCain would be the oldest president ever inaugurated, at 168 years old.
"Yeah, I remember being at Chattanooga with Grant," McCain recounted while the Surgeon General tended his oxygen tank prior to a recent Senate vote. "Of course, back then we didn't have airplanes, so I flew an observation balloon. A fighter balloon, rigged with a Gatlin' gun. Man, we kicked the stuffin' out of those dirty Rebs that day."
Most Americans are aware of McCain's inspiring wartime saga: his craft was shot down by ground fire, but he survived by crashing in a lake located in the middle of Hung Tree, VA. He was captured by enemy forces and subsequently spent 5 1/2 years in a POW camp, enduring scant rations and regular beatings. McCain says that he and his fellow prisoners kept up their spirits by quietly humming "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and sewing American flags.
"Yeah, it was hard to get all the white material we needed for those thirty-four stars. Sometimes you could bribe the guards, but it was hard. They had all the tobacco they needed, but they didn't have coffee. Coffee was like gold."
When asked if he would again ask Sarah Palin to be his running mate in 2012, McCain was noncommittal. "I don't know, four years is a long time, especially for an outdoors girl. Let's wait and see how her looks hold up."
McCain stated that he had not yet formed his exploratory committee for the run. He is waiting for campaign donations to start rolling in, especially from all of his good friends in the press. He said that he plans no changes in his campaign staff, considering how well they served him and Governor Palin during their '08 campaign.
Cornyn, Graham, Frum, and Brooks would probably support him again.
His 2008 presidential run...now THAT was satire!
(Satire) His only hope is if he can get his “friends” in the MSM to forgive him for running against their Tingling Messiah in 2008.
Romney and Huckaphony. The 2008 losers will run again for sure in 2012. Hopefully there will be a real conservative that will make their candidacies irrelevant.
2012? I was surprised when he decided to not run in 2008!
LOL! That’s funny.
