The winds are reportedly not as bad up there as usual & won’t be a factor - perhaps the fact that half of Europe is up there serving as a massive windbreak for the riders has something to do with it?

Think what he will do in a year with no leadership issues and a year back in pro cycling. Being 38 will be working against him, but clearly being a freak of nature will be in his favor.
