Los Angeles, CA (BANG) - Johnny Depp can't look at himself in the mirror. The "Public Enemies" star - widely considered to be one of Hollywood's hottest men - avoids examining his appearance and even hates seeing his movies.
He said: "If I can avoid the mirror when I brush my teeth in the morning I will. I find security and safety in the most profound degree of ignorance. If you can just stay ignorant about just about anything you will be OK. Just keep walking forward."
"It is OK to notice things, but to judge things will bog you down, so I don't like to watch myself in movies."
"I don't like to be aware of the product, I like the process. That is not my fault. I didn't do it. I was there but I didn't do it."
Johnny also claims the secret to maintaining his good looks is staying at home and abstaining from cigarettes and alcohol.
The 46-year-old star joked to BANG Showbiz: "I would say the way I look is down to clean living. Most definitely. If you can avoid wine I would do it. And liquor definitely. Most definitely don't smoke - anything."
"Stay in your room and watch reality television. That is how I do it."

I'm assuming his intended sarcasm isn't really coming through in those quotes. ;)

"If you can just stay ignorant about just about anything you will be OK. Just keep walking forward." That must be the mindset of over half the electorate. Explains a lot.

He's a big phony. Anybody remember the story where he wants his kids to get their pot from him, and not the "street?"
Johnny Depp prefers his kids to get weed from him than from the street.
In a recent interview with Swedish magazine Expressen, Depp claimed to have stopped using most illegal drugs, but he still rated different drug highs. "Opium makes you completely relaxed. It's dangerous because it's so nice. Cocaine is a strange drug
I hated cocaine." Depp compared absinthe to marijuana, except "if you drink too much absinthe, you suddenly realize why van Gogh cut his ear off."

Philosophically speaking, Mr. Depp has a point.

It's called not having a soul. He avoids the person he is, cause it will "bog him down" lol.

Frankly, I think he "gets it."
Once upon a time, on a faraway world, was a creature who discovered a secret,
a secret so unexpected that when he tried to tell others about it
they thought it too strange to be true, and thus ignored it,
so he employed a different approach and made it sound not so strange, but others then just found it boring so he tried a third tactic of making it sound much weirder than it actually was
and then -- finally -- many of his fellow creatures took a likin' to what they heard,
and he became a popular celebrity.
...I guess the moral could be: "A small price to pay." Right?
Once upon a time there was a man who said:
"That's exactly why I quit talking to myself!"

And Johnny...if you weren’t kidding about the mirror part, trust me hon, ya look good. :)

I remember he did a huge 180 about France and was on the semi bash Bush band wagon. When he was living in Paris and saw the Muslims rioting at night burning cars - he decided to get the h*ll out of France.
On the other side - he donated a at least $1 million to a london hospital after they saved his daughter’s life. He also dressed up as Jack Sparrow and entertained the kids at the hospital. He recently left a generous tip at a restaurant.
I don’t think he is a bad guy. He is not Sean Penn or some of the other foaming libs and hypocrites.

I agree with you. He is the most interesting modern actor around: sort of like a Montgomery Clift/ James Dean with a little Errol Flynn thrown in for good measure. He doesn't have to depend on special effects for a good film and he's very versatile.
A little weird? Probably, but I think he takes his work seriously but not himself. Sean Penn on the other hand is over-rated and takes himself WAY too seriously.

For some strange reason, I have never seen a Johnny Depp movie that I liked ... and they are all different.
Well the first Pirates movie wasn’t bad and the Peter Pan movie was bearable.
