A distraught caller trying to save the life of a 2-year-old Florida girl strangled by a pet python screams "The baby's dead!" in chilling 911 tapes released in the toddler's death.
Shaiunna Hare died early Wednesday morning after being attacked in her crib by the snake, which escaped from its aquarium, police said.
"The baby's dead!" a sobbing caller from the house screamed to a 911 dispatcher. "Our stupid snake got out in the middle of the night and strangled the baby."
Authorities did not identify the caller and removed the person's name from the recording.
"She got out of the cage last night and got into the baby's crib and strangled her to death," the caller says in the tape.

That poor baby.
Darnell told investigators that he put the snake in a bag inside its aquarium Tuesday night. But when he woke up Wednesday morning, he said, the snake was gone. He found it wrapped around the girl in her crib.Darnell stabbed the snake repeatedly to free the little girl, but the toddler already had been strangled. The snake also bit her on the head, the station reported.
He called 911 after he pried the python away from the child.
The pet had already escaped once earlier that night, Caruthers [Sheriff Dept spokesman] told FOX News.
“Getting out of its aquarium? Getting up into the crib? Im not sure this is beleivable.”
Definitely believeable. Pythons/boas, etc... are escape artists. And getting into a crib is simple stuff for a snake. Watch one climb sometime. Sounds like you’re a bit overdue on the snake pin at the zoo. ;)
the parents should be charged with manslaughter.... just as if they left a loaded, cocked gun in the crib
White trash and stupid is no way to go through life ...
Those were my first thoughts. Live in boyfriend, snake getting out twice in one night, just happening to crawl to the baby’s crib from another room...sounds like a lot of coincidences. Hopefully, they’ll investigate further.
“...I hope they investigate this. Getting out of its aquarium? Getting up into the crib? Im not sure this is believable.....”
I am learning towards this thought as well. Come on, who calls 911 and says “the baby is dead”? Ummmm, does your child have a name? Boy or girl....would you feel less guilt if you called and said “The external Fetus is dead...”
Either way, stupidity or foul play, these people are IDIOTS!
let me guess, they could not get the tarantula and scorpion to attack....
“Deputies told FOX News that the live-in boyfriend of the little girl’s mother may face charges for not having a permit for the python. He also could be charged with child endangerment or even manslaughter or homicide, Caruthers told FOX.”
They are..
There have been stories like this for years-once every two or three years at least.
Surprisingly, the Supreme Court agreed with you:

Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote in the opinion: “Three generations of imbeciles are enough.”
What kind of a person refers to their child as “the baby?”
“What kind of a person refers to their child as the baby?”
It was the boyfriend who made the call, who is not the baby’s father.
Not the mother.
Why not just give your baby up for adoption if you don’t plan on keeping it out of harm’s way. These people are beyond negligent. Send them to Iran.
ping
I know what you mean. I have a 3 y.o. little girl, and if I were to lose her I’m not sure if I could go on.
Substitute penis?
Stupidity beyond believe
More live in boyfriend crap. If Mom is stupid and/or horny, the kids have a hard life.
So true...seems like everytime I hear a story about a child either abused or killed in the home there is a boyfriend involved. Why do women put their children in such danger? The guys not good enough to marry but it’s ok to let him around the kids and bring his letal pets over. Idiots!

No offense, I just CAN'T HELP IT..... Do you want them to keep the Python as a "cat" maybe?
That having been said what you meant to say is EXACTLY WHAT I THINK.
Pythons are SNAKES and shouldn't be around little children or adults for that matter. I've always felt that people who keep snakes as pets are a bit. . . . . . . odd to put it kindly!
