A distraught caller trying to save the life of a 2-year-old Florida girl strangled by a pet python screams "The baby's dead!" in chilling 911 tapes released in the toddler's death.
Shaiunna Hare died early Wednesday morning after being attacked in her crib by the snake, which escaped from its aquarium, police said.
"The baby's dead!" a sobbing caller from the house screamed to a 911 dispatcher. "Our stupid snake got out in the middle of the night and strangled the baby."
Authorities did not identify the caller and removed the person's name from the recording.
"She got out of the cage last night and got into the baby's crib and strangled her to death," the caller says in the tape.

BINGO! If the man in the house is the biological father of the children in question - they are safe. Any other combination = far, far higher chance of violence, abuse, even outright murder in some cases.
Photos tell all.....That we live in an Idiocracy
Unmarried teenager has baby with much older man; goes to live with him and his other children by other (absent) babymama(s), and brings her own mother with her; yet none of them discovers that the snake cage is open.
Freakin' morons. And these are cracker morons. Conditions in the urban commoonity are even worse.
Wow.... I didn’t know about their relationship. And like this dumbass was going to pay $100 for his wild animal permit from Florida. Yeah it’s even worse in the so called “community”
Whenever a group is called a community you know that’s the last thing it really is
LOL!! Pathetic.
Snakes in the house -- I couldn't find any stats; these morons are in a class by themselves. Also, nothing on housecats, but serious problem with big cats kept as pets, and of course dogs:
Children Killed and Mauled by Big Cats: 47 Reasons To Ban Big Cats as Pets
Wikipedia: Dog attack It is estimated that two percent of the US population, 4.7 million people, are bitten each year. In the 1980s and 1990s the US averaged 17 fatalities per year, while in the 2000s this has increased to 26. Seventy-seven percent of dog bites are from the pet of family or friends, and 50 percent of attacks occur on the dog owner's property.
LOL!! Beer gut...
I’m still skeptical of the whole story.
Dogs kill children every few months. Those stories don't receive quite as much attention, but they happen. I'm still skeptical of this story, but even if true as reported, the story is only one more piece of evidence that no pet should be left alone with any child. I have several pythons, but none of mine will grow to a size where they could hurt a child. Even keeping smaller pythons, my caging is more secure than whatever this guy was using. (I've never had an escape.) With secure caging, even big pythons are safer than dogs. With kids in the house, there should be some kind of secondary containment to keep snakes, dogs, or any other pet from reaching the kids.
If you are, I certainly am
Any thought to the fact that the boyfriend and the mom might have plotted this to get “the baby out of the way”?
Listen again to the 911 tapes. This man DOES NOT sounds sincere and his crying spells sound staged.
Any statement from the child's father?
