AP source: Jackson kin considering LA Coliseum MICHAEL R. BLOOD
The Associated Press
LOS ANGELES - One site under consideration for a public Michael Jackson memorial is the Los Angeles Coliseum, where the Los Angeles Lakers held their championship celebration last month.
A City Hall official not authorized to speak publicly says representatives for the Jackson family have inquired about using the site.
The person stresses that talks were "completely preliminary" and a date for the event was not discussed.

Oh, for Pete’s sake.
No problem, as long as the family pays for it.
sounds like Arnie is gonna have to foot the bill on this one..
Any MediCal or other relief recipients attending this should be immediately stripped of all gov’t largesse.
I don’t JFK got this kind of treatment!
IOU’s work for you?
how much did the Lakers parade cost LA & Calfornia?
Then forget about him.
Sheesh.
Talk about beating a dead, uh, er...pervert.
Ditto.
Ain’t we all taken’ ‘em these days ?
This celebrity fawning is what got Obama elected.
Truly tasteless.
I expect that old Joe Jackson plans to sell tickets, and make a killing.
I think ole Joe is a truly evil man. He “sold” his son 40 years ago, if you catch my drift, and he was largely responsible for damaging MJ for life.
I'm thinking of driving out there and taking this in. Say, are any Freepers from the Boston area interested in heading out to Michael Jackson's funeral with me? We can split the gas $$$ and share motel rooms along the way (I prefer the bed by the window). I think this would make for a neat trip. Also, I have the entire MJ catalog on my MP3 player and if I get one of those FM converter things, we can play nothing but Michael Jackson music on the radio all across the country and reflect on his life and his...music.
In fact, if we get enough Freepers interested, we could have a whole convoy heading out to the MJ funeral. As we traverse the nation, others can join us along they way. It will be fun. While we are stopped at rest areas, we can practice doing the moonwalk and other MJ dance routines (BTW, I'm already an expert at grabbing my groin) so that by the time we pull into LA, we will be able to coordinate our moves and make a grand entrance (to the funeral), representing the Free Republic in style.
Yep, I'm down with this. So c'mon, let's grab our quasi-military outfits, our white gloves, our funny looking shoes and get this show on the road...or we will stand to miss all the action.
They were saying last night on TV that it could be the Staples Center now and that people will shuttle in and out
