It seems like every time I venture into an Apple thread here on FR, it's similar to venturing over into Democratic Underground territory.
Personal attacks abound especially if you start criticizing Apple products or other Apple users for being naive into thinking Apple is everything their clever marketing department represents it to be.
It seems like the Mac ping list alerts the faithful flock to defend Apple to the death and that is when the claws come out and it starts to get ugly.

And you're attracting the wrong kind of attention. Members who start throwing terms like that around are usually shown the door. FR isn't your personal playground for threats - especially legal ones involving this website. My apologies. But when someone makes claims that are not true or provable, it strikes me that would be what would expose FR to such problems. I did not make it with the intent of it being a threat. My purpose was to warn the poster that he might be exposing himself and FR to such legal exposure. I will refrain from making such warnings in the future. Thanks for the heads up.

I was hoping this thread would finally die and RIP. I have to give credit to you and the other MacFaithful in renewing the rhetoric to “keep this thread alive”. Freddy Mercury would be proud.

Never been anything stopping you from uninstalling whatever apps you wanted to from a Mac. Not sure why anyone would want to specifically as they are all very good often even better than what others are putting out. But if anyone wants to they can. Sometimes they are so much better 3rd parties stop bothering to develop for the platform (ie AOL no longer develops AIM because of iChat).

If you cant see the same reasoning with me agreeing with Ed Botts summation without saying I agree with his opinion about Apple wanting Microsoft to cut prices then you are not only an idiot, you are a troll. You were not specific about what part you agreed with. I am not capable of reading your mind, only of reading what you write. I respond to what you write.

I am not saying you need to be a mind reader, but you sure want to read into everything.

I didn’t think anyone still used AIM. lol.

Be surprised. And using the screen sharing capability built into iChat, I can pretty effectively be tech support for the family and friends from afar.

I could care less about WIndows Office series, and if I was an Apple owner I would care less about iLife or iWork. I rarely use bundled crap that is pre-installed.You Windows-based prejudices are showing. The though never drifted across the transom of your mind that bundled software could be the best in its class, not crap. I have yet to find the equal of iPhoto or iMovie on Windows at any price.
iWork is not pre-installed. It's a $79 office suite that blows the doors off of MS Office and doesn't have the little @#$%^ing paperclip.

I wonder how many Mac users though secretly wish there was a takeover and the day when Mac users will rule the world. Not this one. What I would like to see -- and I see as increasingly the case -- is a world in which there is no dominant player in the operating system arena. Apple can compete quite well in that environment. That's why I'm a fan of Linux; anything that erodes Microsoft's hegemony is good for everyone else.

I have been using Remote Assistance since XP and pretty sure a form of it existed back in Windows 2000 Professional.
