Of that grouping, who would not be labeled a progressive? Reagan wasn’t. Who else?

Lincoln didn’t say all that stuff. I think snopes has the whole story, and if they don’t, some other urban legend site has it. The paragraph comes from a postcard or handbill back in the 1890s or so, commemorating Lincoln. But Lincoln is not the author.

What kind of GOP lackey painted that? And where's Calvin Coolidge? He was better than all of them.

I can’t see how Reagan was put on the left.

IIRC it is called “Grand Old Gang” by Andy Thomas. He also did a Dem version called “True Blue,” I think.

"You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves." .....Abraham Lincoln Great post - wonderful picture. Thanks.

Next time we run a presidential candidate, let's make sure he (or she) would be comfortable sitting at this table.

I think Ford is the most underated man in that picture. Despite his drawbacks he held the county together in almost impossible circumstances. Nixon not only saddled him with Watergate, but also some of the worst economic mismanagment in history and the end of a horribly fought war. Ford once said that being President completely changed his perspective from being a Senator. If I remember correctly he vetoed 56 bills in his two and a half years - a trait we all wish GWB would have picked up.

I think it’s a charming image.
You’ll notice that Dick “That Whole Bay of Pigs Thing” Nixon and Gerald “Warren Commission” Ford are keeping their cards close to their chests...

Source: Erroneously attributed to ABRAHAM LINCOLN. Since the 1940s these Ten Points attributed to Lincoln have been widely reprinted. They have appeared in such places as magazines, Christmas cards, and the Congressional Record. The Library of Congress and Lincoln scholars believe that any connection made between Lincoln and the Ten Points is spurious.
