Left-wing academics and journalists have tried for decades to prevent people from asking the question: “But what about all the GOOD things Franco did?”

And it was Franco who put the country on the road to being a constitutional monarchy, enabling Juan Carlos to take over when Franco died. Economic progress, saving the country from the communists, return to constitutional government, peace...other than that, what did Franco ever do for Spain?

Dropping the term “honorary mayor” for a guy who’s been dead for 3+ decades makes a lot of sense, but stripping medals just seems petty.

Guess they also never forgave Franco for saving thousands of Jews during WWII.

True hero of Western Civilization in the 20th century. Almost as important as Reagan and Thatcher-Can you imagine how much more dificult it would have been to tear down the wall if Spain remained in Uncle Joe’s hands???

Franco looks a lot better when you compare him with the murdering NKVD (KGB) and international red cutthroats who were overrunning Spain. What was worse, Franco or a repeat of Stalin’s collectivization genocide on Spanish soil?

You're not allowed to ask that.
Franco committed the one "unforgivable sin" of the blood-soaked XX Century. He opposed communism. For that, he must be ridiculed, slandered, and vilified in perpetuity.
