Leave it to the Germans..
I’d rather have an Audi...and do.
Amazing video.
LOL.
Yeah, don’t buy european. especially with the dollar in the shitter like it is.
We bought a used Passat wagon back in the 90’s that we loved and drove to about 220K miles. Got the wife a new Saturn wagon after that primarily due to 2 things, parts were about 3X more, and the service department at VW dealers seems to be run by Satan.
You know service is not a positive when you call up the manager and tell them you’ll kick their ass if they ever talk to your wife abusively again. A coworker of mine and her roomate had the same opinion (both new Jetta Owners at the time), she told me “They made her roomate cry on her last service visit, they’re A**holes!”.
The building looks like a U-Boat.
The UAW would not allow this!
Compare the German workers to the UAW thugs bleeding GM and Chrysler to death.
Agree.....
Have you had problems with your VW?
I was just looking at new VWs (TDI Jetta) and want all feedback on them, good and bad.
I have a 2002 Jetta TDI. I’ve had great luck with it. The flaws in it were the cupholder that covered the stereo (I think that’s been fixed) and the headlights, which if you’ll notice, have a tendency to allow some condensation over time. I can’t say how much of this exists in the new models.
Outside this, the car runs great. I’m still getting about 42 mpg in the thing. Have 115,000 and no problems thus far.
Should also add that the car has pretty good pick-up for its small engine size. It also has a much, much better turning radius than other cars I’ve driven. I recently got into t a Mitsubishi Eclipse for a rental and expected a somewhat sporty ride, only to realize my Jetta outhandled the thing easily. Very easy to do a U-turn on the fly in a Jetta than in many other cars I’ve driven.
Much better in snow than comparably priced cars with the caveate that ground clearance, however, is crap. That would be a downfall in snow. And overnight at -15, mine wouldn’t start. They don’t have a blockheater, as VW says they should start at down to -20. Apparently they didn’t test them well in Wisconsin/Minnesota winters. ;)
See if the new ones are better?
The car sucks.
That was pretty darn cool.
I’ve had 4 new VWs in the past nine years. Two had zero problems ( a 2004 Jetta Wagon TDI and a 2050 Passat Wagon TDI) and two had minor issues (2000 GTI and a 2001 Beetle TDI).
The Jetta wagon was lost when it was rolled on Interstate 10. Landed on the roof. The driver was fine. Car was totaled. The VWs are built like tanks.
I’d rather have a Porsche...and do.
At 6'8", I'm pretty sure I wouldn't fit in a Porche.
” The VW’s are built like tanks”.
Well, one of the things the Germans knew how to build very well were Tanks.
Obviously, you never heard of IG Metall (Industriegewerkschaft Metall)or Industrial Union of Metal workers. They run the country. UAW is small potato v/s IG Metall.
OTOH engineering, workmanship and quality is paramount! Not only the pay...
