Next to the road
Thanks for the oasis SWAMPSNIPER.
BTW, do you have any of Cardinal Flower? I’m a fan of hummers (hummingbirds, for those in Rio Linda) and would like to have a nice framed Cardinal Flower to display in my sunporch/breakfast room with the Hummingbird border and mint-green walls.
beautiful!
what kind of camera do you use?
These are from the Sony A-200 and the Sony 75-300 lens. I also use a Panasonic FZ30 and an Olymous C2100UZ.
Wow. Great job
A-900, the Big One! I don’t know where I’d put those humongus files, LOL, it takes forever to download from the A-200. I like the extra range I get from the C size sensor too.
The 75-300, it’s a lot better than the reviews say. Sometimes I think those reviewers are smoking dope!
I know they are trying to sell more lenses, LOL
Storage can be a pain, I’ve had to develop a flow where all processing is done in RAW (because JPG with the A900 stinks, frankly), and then for less “important” shots, I’ll downrez it to JPG.
But boy oh boy do I love this thing. I thought I’d nickname it “conehead” because of the big pentaprism on top - but after handling it for a few months, it’s earned it’s nickname of “Warhorse”. It’s just So. Damn. Solid.
(The 100mm macro’s name is “Spock”.)
The A200 is a fine camera, too. I also have the KM5D, roughly 2 generation-back equivalent to the A200. Great color, and the built-in image stabilizer can’t be beat.
Ninety percent of photography is light and composition. You nail those two down, and people won't care if you're using a pinhole camera - it only matters what emotion your shot generates.
Does anyone care what Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Farber, Annie Liebowitz, etc. used? Of course not. Practice all the time your lighting and composition.
Here's a great site to inspire more on that front: Strobist. It seriously rocks.
Some fishbait sitting on that first flower.
JPG in the A-200 is decent. I’ve done some RAW but most of the time there isn’t much difference. I found a closeout on vertical grips at Amazon and snagged one of those, I got a Seagull angle viewer for it, and a remote shutter cable, and I’m set. I also put a Delkin shade on the LCD, It is great in bright sunlight. It also keeps my nose prints off the screen! The angle viewer is great for macro shots, I don’t have to get right down on the ground. The Seagull angle finder made in China is a copy of the Minolta unit. They bought Minolta plans and tooling. It is good quality. Seagull now makes Kodak cameras, which really doesn’t say much, LOL.
bump
You’ve got to be constantly aware of the light. There are some places I won’t even go in the morning, because the light will be bad, some places are the opposite. For the coastal birds I watch the tide charts and the solar/lunar tables. I have a pretty good hit ratio on figuring out where stuff will be. I can’t walk far, I’ve got to hit it right.
What a pleasant surprise to wake up and find your beautiful pictures on my computer this morning!
I love the bug on the first flower!
Thank you so much for sharing.
Beautiful! :)
Beautiful
The flowers are so colorful and well lit. But I noticed the link to SwampSniperPress under the title so I checked it out. You have beautiful and impressive shots of the Air Show. And the hummingbirds are magnificent. Of all 45 shots shown, there’s not a single blurred one. Quite a show!
Wandering around on all your sites, I see that you’re very talented. It’s easy to see your love and respect for all your subjects, or at least the ones I got to before Hubby dragged me away from the computer, LOL.
Thanks for adding me to your ping list; it’s delightful.
