He was perhaps the most exciting performer of his generation, known for his feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves and his high-pitched voice punctuated with squeals and titters

No, it isn't. One man, although a crook and a democrat, liked his country and did a fair job as President, he was killed by an idiot.

The other was a pervert and was mentally ill as evidenced by the mutilation he did on his face and he died of natural causes. I will not miss him. However that does not mean I take any pleasure in his death, I don't, but to compare his passing with Kennedy is ludicrous. RIP Michael J.

In my opinion, the modern American president is mostly a PR figure. I regret our leader-worship as much as our obsession with rock n roll music. In both areas, we endlessly laud what are often utlimately trivial accomplishments.

That being said, from time to time politicians do things that actually matter. Handling the Cuban missle crisis, cutting the marginal tax rate, and having the Civil Rights Act be passed in your memory dwarfs whatever Jackson did. Though there’s something to be said for making people happy for decades on end.

I remember when John Lennon was killed when I was a kid. That sucked big time.

You must also remember the assassination attempt on President Reagan. The public didn't know how serious his wounds were until days later, when he was out of danger. All we were hearing was that he was joking with the doctors: "I hope you're all Republicans!" He actually walked into the hospital so as to reassure the country that he wasn't seriously hurt, then collapsed.

Poor Farrah. That’s all anyone could talk about all morning. Gone from hot potato to cold potato in a matter of hours.

The word “titters” should never have to be used when describing a male.

“I wasn’t alive for the Kennedy assassination but geesh I can’t imagine the comparison”

Just remember what you felt like on Sept. 11th or when the Berlin Wall fell (though both are, in my opinion, more important than what happened to JFK, who is only one among four presidents to be killed).

“hype a la Princess Diana”

I understood that reaction less than Jackson’s, which appears to be of a far narrower scope. At least with Michael, you can point to his album sales, tours, tv appearances, etc. and say, yes, he accomplished lots.

What, exactly, did Diana do? She was but a former part of what is a useless institution to begin with, namely monarchy. Her ex-husband and/or son are sure to be the future king, I guess that’s it. Aside from that, I gather she didn’t like AIDS or landmines. Much ado about nothing.

The Sun (UK) has a closeup photo of a police in-car computer display. They have a phone number blacked out but the dolts left the latitude/longitude showing.

This is the house in question (enter these in Google Earth or Google Maps)

“I thought Kennedy got assinated because he was screwing up the country, changing too many things, pandering to the Unions, implimenting the left’s liberal agenda. MJ was just a secret pedo (imho)”

Kennedy was killed because a disturbed pinko Marxist wanted to be famous.

OTOH, hundreds of young boys will be saved.

I agree. Just got sucked in, as I am a loyal Nancy Grace fan, since my family has been through the murder of a loved one, and she always seems to be such an advocate of victims. I wanted to hear her take on this story.

However, watching a few minutes of her show, she seemed to be consentrating on fan reaction, and not the victims of this man.

Seems like day after day, my bubble is burst a little more when it comes to the media. For news, I only watch Fox News Network and NG, and now it's coming to the point where I don't have anywhere to turn, expect FR. Sad.

I’m truly sorry that Michael Jackson is dead, but let’s not go nuts.

He was a once talented, but washed up superstar with serious personal problems who pissed all his millions away. Condolences to his equally troubled family members.

Yep, from then on , until we sold the house ten years later JFK’s picture hung in our kitchen. We’d see it daily and remember.

I have always wondered if MJ ever got to meet with any of the ORIGINAL moonwalkers. You know who they are. Armstrong, Aldrin, Conrad, Bean, Shepard, Mitchell, Scott, Irwin, Young, Duke, Cernan, Schmit.

President Reagan even joked to Nancy that he forgot to duck.

Kennedy died the year before I was born, so I don’t remember it. But I do remember Elvis dying - we heard it on the car radio while on vacation in New Hampshire - I was 13 years old. My mom started crying (she was an Elvis fan) and my dad gruffly told her to knock it off LOL.

I heard about Jackson on the car radio today as I was leaving work. Same way I heard about Elvis, and it reminded me of that day.

I don’t know how to feel. On the one hand he was a freak and maybe did bad things to children. He certainly was weird.
But in his younger days before the bleach, surgery, and freakiness he made some great music that was part of my youth. I was in college from 1981-1985 and lots of his songs were always on the party tape. Those were some real good times and his music always made me remember them.

I always sort of knew he’d end up this way - no way was he going to die of old age. I figured it would either be a suicide or he’d be done in by one of his sycophantic hangers-on.

It’s just kind of sad - such talent in a weak and screwed up person, who ended up wasting it as he was warped by his environment. He never struck me as overtly evil, just very very lost. And I think those around him didn’t help.

Yep, death can be a good career move, I expect it should be good for about another 2 million sales of “Thriller.”
