Ahhhhh Do you remember these?
Yikes! That Washington Senators - St. Louis Browns twinbill would have been painful to sit thru...
It's somewhat of a thrill just reading the line-ups.....so many iconic names of yesteryear. Wow!

I see we will have a subway World Series in 1941. That should be fun to cover. It will also be the final Series before we cross a line on December 7.
Interesting aspect of these two games... note how long it took to play each game: 1:27 for the first game, 2:19 for the second game.
I was reading an article in Sports Illustrated about Harvey Haddix’s heartbreaking game where he pitched a perfect game for 12 innings and lost in the 13th. That game... all 13 innings... only lasted 3 hours
Today’s 9-inning games last close to 3 hours...
Part of that is due to lack of pitching changes. I see from the box scores that there was only one change during both games. Tamulis gave up 9 runs before being pinch hit for in the ninth.
WhenI was a kid in 1970 or ‘71 the used to have Old Timer’s Game before the regular game and I got to see the Old Time Cardinals against the Old Time Braves. I got to see Dizzy Dean and Ducky Medwick and Stan Musial and Leo Duerocher (sp?), plus Warren Spahn and Eddie Matthews.
