I just got rejected as a bartender mainly because the owner couldn't convince the girls to take me on and be trained and the owner for one reason didn't think I could handle it.
I might be wrong, but if the owner approves isn't it the job of the employees to take me on irrespective of their own personal wishes? Another example of the employees run the business instead of the owner.
I feel bitter because it was all going so smoothly and now this. He wanted to take me on, he approved, and now this.
When my husband was hiring, he took into consideration whether or not an individual would get along with him and other employees. They spend a lot of time in trucks together driving all over town, and he didn’t want someone who was hard to get along with. He didn’t ASK if everyone liked a potential employee, though.
He likely lied to you and he is just blaming the other employee’s.
Trust me, you didn’t want to work there anyway.
Damn Feminazis!
Consider you have been saved from snarky, behind the back comments and any other attendant indignities which might have come your way.
bump
Maybe its cause you just got out of AA ?
Long gone are the days when employers do much training, if at all.
If the owner made an unconditional formal offer, he needs to stand by it.
Otherwise... If the manager is considering hiring someone for a position within a team, how well that person will fit in (productivity, unique contribution, collaboration, work ethic, etc.) are factors that should be considered.
I make such considerations within the team I have. The key is, I don’t make a formal offer until I’m certain of the person being the right fit.
Sometimes NOT getting a job is a blessing. Count this as one.
High turnover job. Keep hitting all the bars. Get in a poor tipping one, use it as a stepping stone.
Uh, maybe they fiqured out you are a complainer?
Get them together at the bar and buy the first few rounds and show them some charm.
Have you considerd going postal?
Their livelihoods are directly by your ability and desire to support their mission, which is to serve customers promptly and fill orders accurately.
When order fulfillment fails it has a direct impact on salespeople as their commission or in this case “Tips” are negatively impacted.
It is not fair to the wait staff to have someone who cannot fulfill orders in a timely fashion and also has a negative impact on the overall business.
I know when I can't get my drinks and food in a reasonable amount of time my experience, at that establishment, becomes and artifact of something that erodes my enjoyment of being there.
So, you didn't get hired. Either improve your ability to demonstrate competence and understanding that you are vital the support of the wait staff and business or consider some other vocation.
Forget about this and move on.
We need ABMs, automatic bartender machines. Insert money and a perfect digitally mixed and cooled drink appears, no tip necessary. They can be programmed to tell jokes and listen to tales of woe.
