Letterman has jumped the shark.

Letterman has jumped the shark.

The recent bad jokes about Palin and her daughter shows that Letterman has jumped the shark. A term used to describe a TV shows beginning of the end. This usually corresponds to the point where a show with falling ratings apparently becomes more desperate to draw in viewers. In the process of undergoing these changes, the TV or movie series loses its original appeal. Shows that have "jumped the shark" are typically deemed to have passed their peak.

Face it if Letterman cannot or will not attack Obama or the Clintons so his show has lost the political satire that he used to do. So all he can do to appear current is make disgusting jokes about safe targets, like Palin and her daughter. The fact that he has to make vulgar disgusting comments shows that he has gotten to old and bitter, and lost his edge. To attack a 14 or even 18 year old girl with a cheap shot is just sad, and show he has nothing left. I don’t think that Letterman’s contract will be renewed, and he may be off the air in less than two years.

SIX!! Can’t imagine the work but it’s great having a large family. Your baby will always be your baby and tug at your heart.

> The joke about hoping Letterman dies of heart failure is a reference to the Wanda Sykes “joke” about hoping Rush’s kidneys fail and the fact that Letterman had a heart bypass a few years ago.

Ahh. I thought you were kidding, but you were serious.

Fair enough, but when you think it thru carefully, *everybody* dies of heart failure. Everyone, no matter what. Even if you jump into a hi-speed plastic shredder, or get eaten by a shark, or get blown to a million pieces by a grenade or vaporized by an atomic bomb, or get cooked in an instant by jumping into a vat of molten iron: you die of heart failure. Always and without fail.

So wishing David Letterman to die of heart failure is sorta pointless.

> They want to play hardball, I say, “batter up!”

If you want to play hardball with them, you’d be best wishing for a different demise for David Letterman, else he might die of laughter.

Just a thought...

Letterman “jumped the shark” after his show just moved from NBC to CBS, IMHO.

I readily admit it’s tasteless and a terrible joke...but, quite funny just the same! ;^)

She has to wake up every day next to David Letterman.

Since she presumably chooses to do this...perhaps we should be talking about her sanity, instead of just her homeliness...

“She has to wake up every day next to David Letterman.”

She made a choice to do this. She must enjoy it.

Just wrote a letter to Samsung:

To Whom it May Concern:

I am a Canadian citizen living in Bangalore, India. My Indian wife and I have just moved into a luxury apartment building and are looking for a 40 or 50” LCD TV. After looking at many brands, LG, Sony, and Panasonic, we honestly decided on purchasing Samsung, for the value, but also because there is a great dealership around the corner from our new building and the folks there are very nice and helpful.

Unfortunately, after discovering your name among the list of advertisers for the Letterman show, we’ve decided to buy another brand, likely the Panasonic. As the parents of a 7-month old girl, we are of course disgusted by Letterman’s comments and share the sentiments of those who wish to see him removed from the airwaves.

I hope that this letter finds its way to the relevant corporate officer who may help to raise the question of whether it is appropriate for a brand like Samsung to associate itself with such perverted and offensive programming.

Thank you kindly....

The fact that he called Sara Palin “slutty” opens him to critizism of his taste in women. He opened the door.

Actually, he jumped THIS. Which may be worse.

Like Dave is going to win any beauty prizes? He is and always was a geeky looking b'tard. A geeky looking b'tard with a pukey personality at that.

Celebrity No Holds Barred Cage Match between Todd Palin and David Letcherman.

BTW; Has anyone checked Letterman’s computer for kiddie porn? The dude is creepy.

I was listening to a talk show host on WSB radio in Atlanta yesterday, around 2pm. This guy - who sounded fairly young, 20's or 30's maybe - was a self-proclaimed "Independent Libertarian"...whatever the hell that is;

Anyway, he was preaching that Sarah Palin "cost McCain the election.". Now, correct me if I'm wrong, and I thought I followed the election pretty close, McCain was sucking wind until he announced Palin as his VP choice. His ratings took off, and even those who were no going to bother to vote for McCain't decided to after Sarah was involved.

For me, it was when McCain "suspended his campaign" to fly back to Washington to "save the world" from the TARP fiasco, and then sat at the table with his finger up his rear while commiebama slam dunked him; that's when I remember mccain's numbers dropping and commiebama was vaulted in.

Anyway, after the talk show host reminded us - probably 8 times in a 15-minute segment - that he was an "Independent Liberatarian" it became quite obvious that he was there bolstering his "party" at the expense of Sarah Palin.

The Libertarians - including Beck - seem to have jumped over to the liberals and RINO's side to discredit and dismantle the Republican party. After all, Libertarians have been way back in the pack in gaining a foothold in elections, so what better way to become "liberals who want a balanced budget", than to get one of the parties out of the way? They don't want to kill the Democrats, for on social issues the libertarians ride the same pony - or donkey - as the liberals.

I've tried to find a trail of poll numbers before and after Palin to send to this "independent libertarian" but I can't seem to find them.

So far, the dems want Palin destroyed, the RINO's and other male aspirants to office in the Republican Party, and now the "Independent Liberatarians"...they all want her destroyed.

The good news is, grassroots America loves her; she is one of us and shares our beliefs in America and all she stands for. Unless we find a kenyan birth certificate, Palin will probably be the only person in America that has a viable chance to oust commiebama from office before he destroys our country.

"Independant Libertarians" need to learn that America is mostly right of center - and most of that has to do with the same "social issues" that the libertarians share with democrats.

To the old, white, males RINO's that want to knock her out of the running in the next election - let me just put it this way...but in my opinion you don't have an ice cube's chance in hell of beating commiebama. Check out all the cities that have black mayors, for instance. Very few, if any, ever return to white leadership.

I know the libertarians are going to "flame on" when they read this, but they need to take a long hard look at reality. No true conservative, with principles, is going to vote for a party who hangs with democrats on their most disgusting feature, social issues. Libertarians want to be "hip" and fit in, and have bought into the rhetoric of the Washington elite about "conservatives".

BUt, he who walks down the middle of the road, gets hit by traffic from both directions.

“Compare her choice of husbands to Sarah Palin’s. Speaks volumes, I’d say. “

That is very true.
