Not everyone selling stuff under the title of 'green solutions' has a wacko agenda in mind. They're likely just glomming onto what they consider a lucrative marketing strategy. Good for them. No one is forcing anyone to buy these things, and besides, there wouldn't be enough for everyone anyway.
We've lived 'green' for years, not wasting electricity, natural gas or water. That's called good stewardship of God's Creation, and the enviro-wackos have just appropriated it for their own use, and called it 'Green'.
Same thing happened in the the 70s with the 'back to the land' movement, but those folks got a taste of comfort after their pioneer phase, and moved on. Some of those folks, who would now be in their 60s and 70s, might be latching back onto the latest Green movement, in order to re-live their youth, as some did during the most recent anti-war boomlet.

How do you think those cement block underneath it would hold up under a good storm? If those are reinforced concrete with good footings, I suspect they'd hold up quite nicely.

Most used shipping containers leak. This is not a good thing for contents and occupants.

I’m not for the gvt forcing us to live anywhere. But if it keeps the snow off and the sun out, I’d live there and be grateful under the correct circumstances.

Go take a shower and blot the area with a towel. A 50/50 mixture of bleach and water in a spray bottle should take care of any drippy residue.

I live in one in Bosnia,
I lived in one in the southern Philippines,
and I lived in one in Iraq.
I'll be damned if I live in one here.
Some of the recreational ideas pictured here are good though.

Why not build entire libraries with such technology?

I believe I could live in a house made of shipping containers. I’d probably have to cut them up and weld them back together into something that looked more like a house and less like a shipping container, but it would still be made out of shipping containers.

It'd only take $999,000 to make it green compliant.

Thanks mom.
Its an interesting idea, certainly would work well in some applications. But, for me, I think I’d rather have a home I built myself.
