Chastity Bono, civil rights advocate, journalist, author and musician, is in the early stages of changing his gender -- transitioning from female to male, TMZ has learned.
Bono, the child of legendary entertainers Sonny and Cher, began the process earlier this year, shortly after his 40th birthday.
"Yes, it's true -- Chaz, after many years of consideration, has made the courageous decision to honor his true identity," confirmed Bono's publicist, Howard Bragman

I heard this story today, and what timing, I'm taking a class right now on Addictive Behavior, and our speaker this week has been Sy Rogers, a well known speaker/teacher/counselor on sexual issues such as homosexuality, gender identity, etc. He came from a gay background, at one time was a pre-op transsexual and now has a global ministry, a family and has been a Christian for 30 years.
I don't remember the exact numbers, but he was talking about a large number of transsexuals who later either sued the doctors, or changed back to their original gender. And the bottom line is, changing one's gender on the outside doesn't solve the person's problems or change who they really are.
But most here already know that. ;-]
Funny how they’re referring to her as a him. She will never be a he no matter how much she pretends or mutilates her genitals. People should be getting help for their mental problems, not encouraging their delusions. This isn’t going to make her happy either.. sad.

I know the science is not well-known, it can't be since we've only just found out in the last 15 years how amazingly different typically male and typically female brains are, but it's true.

Chaz Bono was born a boy, but his body was mainly female. The neurology wasn't, and probably some other bits too. A lot of men in that situation try to live as butch lesbians (a lot of men who aren't in that situation might think that's not too bad a deal too - until they remember that means not having a, well, not being complete). But butch lesbians are not men. So the discomfort eventually becomes too great, and they have to transition.
