People with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) should eat oily fish at least twice a week to keep their eye disease at bay, say scientists. Omega-3 fatty acids found in abundance in fish like mackerel and salmon appear to slow or even halt the progress of both early and late stage disease. The researchers base their findings on almost 3,000 people taking part in a trial of vitamins and supplements. The findings are published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology.

I found out why anchovies are so popular. They are loaded with the “fifth flavor”, called “umami” or “savory”. And don’t throw them away yet, because tiny amounts of anchovy are being rediscovered as a food additive to all but sweet foods.
There is a problem with fish oil and flax oil, however. While Omega-3 has all kinds of beneficial effects, including as an anti-inflammatory agent, it is usually in combination with Omega-6, which has pretty much the opposite effect. (Omega-9 is also believed to be good, but in smaller amounts.)
To make matters worse, there is no clear distinction in labeling, with the same product being labeled “Fish oil with Omega-3” and “Fish oil with Omega-3 and Omega-6, and to distinguish them. Usually just the chemical names for Omega-3 will be on the label.

Do you ever use MSG on your food? You can buy bottles of it off the spice rack in a lot of places. Again, the rule is it works for foods that aren’t sweet.

Don’t need to eat the fish, you can buy the oil in capsules, Alaskan, or Norwegian, $20 for 300 1000mg caps.
If you buy Salmon oil, the problem is solved - no measurable 6 present. Flax oil is heavy in 6 because it is a seed of a “grass.” Nuts are heavy in omega 9 oil.
Tilapia is a hot water fish - never good for you.
Salmon is a cold water fish.
