Has Microsoft, after more than 20 years of work, finally come up with an operating system that rivals the Mac OS? Are the two just different flavors of the same GUI?
Hadley Stern, writing for Apple Matters, thinks this might be the case.
It may have taken Microsoft 20 odd years to figure this one out but there is some pretty big news on the horizon. Of course the market-share battle is lost for Apple, although it continues to chip away here and there. But the innovation-share battle continues. And the big big big news:
Windows 7 Doesnt Really Suck
Unless Apple is hiding something very very very big with Snow Leopard Apple is about to lose the high-ground (and bullying rights) when it comes to its operating system. The blunders of Vista were easy to pick at, picking on Windows 7 will be nitpicking at best, stupidity at worst. For all intents and purposes Snow Leopard and Windows 7 are two flavors of the same GUI.
Im not so sure. Why?

I’ll give you $100 plus shipping for all your Apple products, assuming you didn’t physically damage them. After all, they’re doing you no good.
gee you are so kind...lol.
The only one on earth stopped working, huh? 10 iPods in a drawer... yeah, we believe you!!(hehehehe)
Quality issues
People have experienced failure of the lower memory slot, with the typical repair being the replacement of the logic board. Apple had started a Repair Extension Program concerning the issue,[3] but it has been noted that some models displaying the issue have not been included.
Apple have previously had an Repair Extension Program to fix the “white spot” issue on its 15” PB displays.[4]
There has also been a rash of reports concerning sudden and pervasive sleeping of 1.5 and 1.67 GHz models.[5][6] Symptoms will include the PowerBook suddenly entering sleep mode, no matter the battery level or if plugged into the mains. One cause is the ambient light sensing, and associated instruction set coding, with possible keyboard backlight and sleep light issues accompanying the so-called “narcolepsy”. Another cause is the trackpad heat sensor monitoring the trackpad; system logs report “Power Management received emergency overtemp signal. Going to sleep.”.
gee that was hard to find. And there are many more problems reported. Must be nice to live in your dream world where Apple doesn’t do any wrong...
Why do you think HP got out of the iPod business?
Yeah, those jerks at Apple. They actually sent me a new G4 17" Powerbook ($2700 new) when my first one got dropped by me. They had the nerve to not even charge me. Applecare later took care of replacing a screen for me, when I broke the hinges and sliced the wires, damn them. It was Spots fault.
Not me!
You must work for ACORN or something?
Must be nice to live in your dream world where Apple does everything wrong...
I'll give you $200 plus shipping.
...or something. I just happen to spot a lie when I see one!
a lie...nice...maybe you should thank me for being one of the many hundreds that had to suffer horrible service from Apple so eventually they would be forced to take care of people.
Everything I have posted here is the absolute truth. It is a shame that you seem to have trouble with the truth. And since you joined in 2007 you are probably a DailyKOS’r anyway.
Apparently you are correct that Macs are made to last. I’ve got a G3 that I got in 2000, a G4 that I bought used a couple of years ago and an iBook that is probably about 8 years old that I am using right now. All of my Macs are still working just fine. I don’t know anybody that has a Windows computer that has lasted nearly that long. I looked into Macs after hearing Rush talk about his all of the time. I liked what I saw and have been hooked ever since.
Check for some addons...it might be possible....It might be that it kicks it into gear outside of Firefox...the dim recesses of my mind seems to remember seeing something...
I agree with that. I’ve never owned anything other than a Mac and I sure am not a lib.
What iPods have been so bad. If you have the PB and the ten iPods, I'll up it to $300.
It was the original G4...ordered it the day it was available and I remember it costing around $6k. It was maxed out, and that price included the software licenses as well (office products, etc).
Was a 1gh or and 867mh? I had one I sent back to Apple last fall. My grandson trashed it. He's 6.
Apple put a new screen, a new keyboard, video, and a new power supply, for the grand sum of slightly more than $300. They will fix any of the G4's with any problems for one flat fee.
FRiend, you jumped on Apple like you own MS stock! Your KOS quip was funny though. My first signup on FR was shortly after yours. If that determines truth, I have learned something else today...
I have had 2 iPods stop working, a 4G classic and a mini, in both cases, it was my fault for running with them on a daily basis. I got a 1G nano that still works fine except the battery is shot, still works for shorter runs though.
I have a g4 PowerBook that is still going strong as well and I was not kind to it.
Every person that I personally know who has had problems with their Mac has at the most had to send it off. In most cases they went shopping in the mall and came back in a few hours and picked up a fixed computer from the Apple store.
In one case, a girl did appear to have a new computer with serious issues. This was a plastic Macbook, they upgraded her to the top of the line aluminum Macbook at no extra charge.
I also can’t share your issues with iTunes. In fact on my Mac I find it to be pretty rock solid. If you have trouble with losing music, you can of course buy the CDs in a store and you have your backup right there. Or you can buy unprotected MP3s from Amazon and they will load automatically into iTunes. Perhaps you would find them easier to deal with. Or you could switch to a different program. Songbird for instance works with iPods.
lol...
Actually Apple (or it was an authorized Apple service center) looked at fixing the G4 and they estimated it was going to be $1500 or something like...at that price I just replaced it - with a non Apple product. When it worked I really loved it, Apple has always designed well for the market but their reliability and service was horrible.
I have been in any stock for over 24 months :)
I haven’t purchased an Apple product in 4 years (except iPods for the kids) or so now.
I'll take a BSD Unix system which was designed to protect against hostile Anyone who designs a system which connects the root of the system

threats from the internet from the design phase.
$6,000 g4 notebook? Did you buy from Obama?
