Such cases are held before the Coroners Court in Northern Ireland to determine whether the items are treasure and thus belong to the Crown. Anything I dug up from my yard would be mine. Of course I wouldn't be broadcasting the find to the world.

Why would you turn it in if you knew the frickin’ feds were going to take it? Found on your land but they can confiscate it if it is over a certain antiquity. The US has laws that are just as intrusive when it comes to treasures.
