Police Shoot Pit Bull, Save Collie In Dog Fight
Posted: 5:14 pm EDT May 31, 2009
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Police had to taser a pit bull twice before shooting it to end a vicious dog attack in Washington County.
The pit bull attacked another dog on Broad Street in the City of Washington.
"I had to get that dog off him. He's all tied up and I didn't want my dog dead."
Donald Jacobs and his wife Vicky said their one-year-old collie named Buddy was attacked by a neighbor's pit bull as they sat outside their house around 11 p.m. Saturday.
"I was hitting the pit bull on the head and everything else, trying to get him off," said Donald Jacobs.
Vicky Jacobs said, "I was petrified. I was horrified- all the words you can think. That was it. I was scared."
As Donald Jacobs tried to get the pit bull off Buddy, his wife called Washington police.
When Officer Matthew Karlowski arrived, he found Donald Jacobs tangled up in a leash still trying to pull the pit bull away.
Karlowski said he used his taser on the dog twice but the pit bull kept getting up. The officer then drew his gun and fired.
"Donald was clear along with his dog and I had to use one shot to put the dog down," said Karlowski.
An animal control officer removed the pit bull.
Karlowski said, "The dog was very vicious and the dog appeared to be on a frenzy."
Donald Jacobs plans to take Buddy to a veterinarian on Monday but the dog is expected to be OK.
Taser the owner, as well.
Good!...
Let all the pit bulls loose down in southern Florida to take care of the pythons and monitor lizards.
That’s Doggist!! Breedist!!
lol...Chet you’re a piece of work man..
wow, imagine, a dog beating up another dog.... I thought bugs bunny cartoons and Spike were just myths... thanks Chet.
I’ll always remember you as the Chet from the last chapter of Wierd Science...
I’ll also buy a pit bull as my next dog just because of hysterical women afraid of the next fad.. “Global Warming” “Pit Bulls” and “illegal Aliens”... Oh my!!!
That was a nice perspective. Thanks for sharing it.
The two collies that attacked my brother looked more like the snarling monster in the second pic.
You're an idiot.
Your pitbull gets anywhere near my dogs and I'll shoot it.
A**hole.
My shitzu was mauled by a pitbull. Guess what the a-hole owner said: "Oh, he was so sweet, he loved my kids, he never hurt anyone."
Lemme guess, your pitbulls are so sweet and sensitive; until they rip some kid's face off.
Keep your Mexican fighting dogs in Juarez, where they were born and bred.
you act mighty violent on this forum for someone who’s upset about what you see as violent dogs
to a female freeper (porterville) I might add
you don’t notice any inconsistency there GR?
mean pitbull bad, angry threatening FR poster good?
Chet, you have metaphorical blood on your hands here..lol...better reel in yer thread enforcers
Why wasn’t the pit bull on a leash?
Don't buy into these little girls screaming about dogs; it is a different dog every 5-10 years. Let them scream. Tomorrow it will be heavy metal.
Here is a bit of visual education:
I meant no threat against a female Freeper, male Freeper, or anyone else. Only the vision of my Shitzu retreating to the back of my AC unit as a pitbull continued to attack and claw at him, even after his owner beat him repeatedly with a golf club.
To this day he's not the same dog.
Moi?
In America, the Pit Bull flourished. It was one of the most popular breeds, highly prized by a wide variety of people. The Pit Bull was used to represent the US in WWI artwork; popular companies like RCA and the Buster Brown Shoe Company, use the breed as their masctos. A Pit Bull named Petie starred in the popular children's television series, Our Gang; a Pit Bull mix named Stubby became a decorated WWI hero. Pit Bulls accompanied pioneer familes on their explorations. Laura Ingalls Wilder of the popular Little House books owned a working Pit Bulldog named Jack. Famous Individuals like Theodore Roosevelt and Hellen Keller owned the breed.
