I was wondering what Gibran had to say about freedom and he did not let me down.

Enjoying your reread?

Oft, in the Stilly Night
Oft, in the stilly night, Ere slumber's chain has bound me, Fond memory brings the light Of other days around me; The smiles, the tears, Of boyhood's years, The words of love then spoken; The eyes that shone, Now dimm'd and gone, The cheerful hearts now broken! Thus, in the stilly night, Ere slumber's chain hath bound me, Sad memory brings the light Of other days around me.
When I remember all The friends, so link'd together, I've seen around me fall, Like leaves in wintry weather; I feel like one Who treads alone Some banquet-hall deserted, Whose lights are fled, Whose garlands dead, And all but he departed! Thus, in the stilly night, Ere slumber's chain has bound me, Sad memory brings the light Of other days around me.

Indeed..Rereading again.. Well.... Y'all.... Down on the ground is my heart broke in one million pieces to have to told you this... but, I reread it several times and I'm still not sure what the man is saying.
1co 14:27 If any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by three, and that by course; and let one interpret.
Ms L.J. how about you interpret for us dunces.

I did enjoy..much to consider there.., Lady Jag.
I’ve been hosing down the A/C compressor..It did well during hotter days than this and suddenly warmed up above my thermostat setting..It is working as it is supposed to for now..It’s about bedtime with my way off normal sleeping pattern..I’ll be back tonight.

Life is Fine
by Langston Hughes
I went down to the river,
I set down on the bank.
I tried to think but couldn’t,
So I jumped in and sank.
I came up once and hollered!
I came up twice and cried!
If that water hadn’t a-been so cold
I might’ve sunk and died.
But it was Cold in that water! It was cold!
I took the elevator
Sixteen floors above the ground.
I thought about my baby
And thought I would jump down.
I stood there and I hollered!
I stood there and I cried!
If it hadn’t a-been so high
I might’ve jumped and died.
But it was High up there! It was high!
So since I’m still here livin’,
I guess I will live on.
I could’ve died for love—
But for livin’ I was born
Though you may hear me holler,
And you may see me cry—
I’ll be dogged, sweet baby,
If you gonna see me die.
Life is fine! Fine as wine! Life is fine!
(To make you smile...I did!)

Never mind about the interpretation Ms L.J. I think I found out why I was having a problem from the man himself.
From Wikipedia:
Kahlil Gibran: One of his most notable lines of poetry in the English-speaking world is from “Sand and Foam” (1926), which reads : “Half of what I say is meaningless, but I say it so that the other half may reach you”.
I guess I was reading the wrong half.

What Gibran means by saying some is true and soome isn’t is the poetry of it makes it not prose; you can’t take it literally so much as feel the emotions behind what the Prophet says.
Probably if you searched Kahlil Gibran quotes you’d get used to his style more quickly.
Many of quotes are profound.
One of my faves: For what is it to die, But to stand in the sun and melt into the wind?

Thanks for the ping (#2552), graphic and thread. Just got home from work. What a glorious evening in southeastern Michigan...mid 70’s, windows open with the sounds of summer carried in on a light breeze.
Thanks to all of the outstanding posters on this thread.

The Sadness within Stares In silent pining With tearless eyes And lips As the clamours of Fears Ring in its ears Unaffected by the noise And the pains of wounded, bleeding heart
. Searching, Waiting for the Strength To raise its hands Folded with Devotion And dissolve its Spirit Into the eternal calmness of Surrender.

I love Hughes. Didn't seem to write to many poems, regretfully.

In time of silver rain The earth Puts forth new life again, Green grasses grow And flowers lift their heads, And over all the plain The wonder spreads Of life, Of life, Of Life! In time of silver rain The butterflies Lift silken wings To catch a rainbow cry, The trees put forth New leaves to sing In joy beneath the sky As down the roadway Passing boys and girls
Go singing, too, In time of silver rain When Spring And life Are new.

I did not get my nap. ..I have been talking to my daughter..I have been hoping she was able
to go tomorrow with my SIL to see my grandson in Hawaii before he leaves again on another
deployment..Alas she is just too ill to make it. I was prepared to keep her 6 kitties while they
were in Hawaii.....She and my SIL are so disappointed but hope to fly grandson and his wife
home when he returns in 6 months..My SIL flies every week so he has lots of
frequent flyer points.
Thank you all for coming by today with your prayers, scripture, poetry ,lovely graphics, music
and comments.
May God bless you with a good evening and pleasant dreams
