SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) - Hormel Foods Corp. reported Thursday net income rose 4% for the quarter but sales growth was flat despite increased demand for Spam, Dinty Moore stews, and Chi-Chi's Mexican food items. I couldn’t face my Italian ancestors [or the Portuguese ones, for that matter] in the afterlife if I ate CHEF BOY -R-DEE.
Best when sliced and fried with a cheese slice on top
and served on a saltine!
Its because Spam will survive a nuke bomb. Lasts forever...:O)
Also best when sliced, fried, and topped with eggs (over easy) on fried rice...
I agree. I loved Spam sandwiches since I was a kid—but now that I’m retired I can’t afford them on my budget.
Spam costs over $3.00 per pound. I can often buy steak and pork cuts for $1.99. I bought chicken quarters today for .49 cents per lb.
So why buy Spam. It’s at the cost of premium meat cuts.
Excuse you?!
I happen to love Spam, especially in Mac- n - cheese, and I belong to Mensa.
Maybe you aren’t that bright?
Think before you label. :(
A couple months ago , while taking my elderly blind mother to the grocery store, mom started putting spam in her cart. when i asked why she told me “for the depression”.
since she lived through the “great depression”, i defered to her expertise.
She died sunday. I guess she didn’t have to worry about the depression after all.
Hungry Hawaiians ..
In my lower middle class potted meat early youth, Spam was a treat.
As was Treet....or Underwood Deviled ham
any kids here recall that?
uh...my late godfather was related to Chef Boyardee
*yep I’m Italian* http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ettore_Boiardi
Never tried spam. Too skittish to can my own meats. Might try these, though:

I absolutely LOVE Underwood Chicken Spread. I buy it to this day!
Yeah. I had a friend who was in mensa since 6 years old and she thought them a bunch of fools, as they wanted her to be the ‘head’ of the local group.
Just because someone is 5 or 6 doesn’t mean they’re ready to run an organization, which is what they wanted her to do, for the ‘look’ of it.
mensa is bs.
spam is army food.
oh, and my IQ is 136.
>>>”Mmmm - Spam & eggs!”
Especially Spicy Spam - with the Tabasco sauce built-in. :)
