MERIDEN - A former police captain accused of biting a woman in the arm has resigned from his job as training coordinator at the Meriden Police Department, a police spokesman said.
Francis Woodruff, 51, left the department on May 8 after an employee at the Police Officer and Standards Training Council said he bit her arm on April 24, leaving teeth marks and bruising, officials said.
Woodruff was assigned to work part time with POST through his job with Meriden police, but he is no longer allowed on the property, said Chief Thomas Flaherty, executive Director at POST.
Woodruff, a retired Waterbury police captain, told state police that he was "horsing around" and only pretended to bite Rochelle Wyler, a license and applications analyst, according to an arrest affidavit.
Wyler told police Woodruff was calling her names and she sarcastically said, "Whatever Woody, bite me." Woodruff then grabbed her arm, pulled her to him and bit her triceps, the warrant states.
A call to Woodruff's attorney was not immediately returned.
Sounds like the job left a bad taste in his mouth.
I think he found something to sink his teeth into!
must bite to be such a quitter.
Talk about taking a “bite out of Crime!”
He mistook taking a bite out of crime.
Maybe he can hawk Sham-wow.
